I am seeking please a baptismal entry for a Barbara FAWKES born c. 1680 possibly near Felton, Northumberland. She married a Thomas HARPER in 1702 in Felton, Northumberland, hence the guess on my part about her place or region of birth. However I cannot find a suitable entry having looked at all of England as well. If anyone can enlighten me I am greatly appreciative. Thanks, cheers, Rob

Australia / School Student Records plse - Glenthompson, Vic - 1886-1893 (BELL Family)
« on: Saturday 16 December 23 09:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am seeking please School Student Records for schools in the Glenthompson district during the period 1886 to 1893?

I am researching to find out first where my grandfather, John BELL (born about 1878 in Ballarat) may have gone to school & whether his student records are still available? Although his parents married in October, 1881, it appears John was born 2 or 3 years earlier. His own army records points fairly closely to a birth date/month of about October, 1878. During the period 1878-81 his father was a miner and worked in several different areas which meant he was often away from home for long periods.

I know his parents Robert BELL & Isabella (nee PATTIE) came to Glenthompson, Victoria in 1886 where Robert worked as a Railway Ganger. The family remained there until about 1902, when they moved to Burrumbeet, near Ballarat.

Other children born at Glenthompson were:

William Josiah (1886, d. 1888)
Thomas (1890)
Grace (1893)
George (1895)
Muriel (1897)
Robson (1899)

Two other children had been born earlier, Robert Armstrong (b. Goldsborough in 1882) & Elizabeth (b. Goldsborough in 1884).

Any help with obtaining any records or proof of their schooling at Glenthompson is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Australia / School Student Records plse - Wendouree, Vic - 1860s?? (PATTIE Family)

I am seeking please School Student Records for schools in the Wendouree district of Ballarat during the 1860s?

I am researching to find out first where my great-grandmother, Isabella PATTIE (b. 1857) & sister Elizabeth (b. 1855) may have gone to school & whether their student records are still available?

I know their parents James PATTIE & Grace (nee HORNE) came to Ballarat, Victoria in 1860 (James) and 1861 (Grace, Elizabeth, Isabella and elder brother James)..

They lived at 15 Burnbank Street, Wendouree throughout their childhood years in Victoria.

Any help with obtaining any student record information or even evidence of their schooling around the Wendouree area is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks Forfarian. I will have a look at this site for ideas. Hopefully it will be a fruitful search! Rob

Thanks Bearkat, yes I agree with your analysis. Will try a few ideas. How easy is it to access wills from this period? I will need to determine death dates & that also may be difficult. Cheers, Rob

Seeking please baptism of Thomas OLIFER born c. 1655-60 in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire. He married an Isobel MILLER in 1680. I notice one Thomas was baptised on 28th April, 1656 the son of a William whilst another was baptised on 25th August, 1656, the son of a Robert OLIFER. Seeking the more likely entry please? Thanks, Cheers, Rob

I suppose the Ford entry in 1747 could fit as Ford is close to Lowick. Since familysearch.org does not show the first name of the child, is there any other way to identify his name? Curious. Rob

That's interesting Neale, thanks. I could not see the actual entry as it is unavailable on familysearch.org. I will check if there are any likely entries of birth around that parish. Regards, Rob
