Hi,The term does seem to refer to a stock man of some form , it seems it may refer to both some one who looks after livestock as a paid employee , but also as a person who looks after livestock as an independent  land owner and live stock owner.

Hi all,
I'm trying to trace the birth of Matthew James Burgess I believe he was born circa 1769 -1771 he lived in the Greenwich and worked as a waterman , any help finding a birth record or baptismal record would be greatly appreciated.
