Searching for a marriage of David Painter and Janet Graham.  Had a son William born 25th December 1846 and baptised 25 March 1849 in Newburgh.  Have looked on SP and cannot find any trace.

Can anyone shed any light please

Hi Nell

I thought about this but wouldn't his full names be shown on his marriage and death certificates?  They both only show John.

I am searching for the birth certificate of John Douglas.  According to the 1871 cenus he was born in Peebles in about 1863.  I have searched the Scotlands People website but cannot find any details of him.  His parents were Alexander Douglas and Mary Thomson and they married in 1863.  I have tried searching for John Thomspn just in case he was born before his parents married but still cannot find any trace of him.  I have found birth details of his brother Duncan who was born in 1864.

John himself married in 1888 to Maggie McLagan.  John's occupation is a Blacksmith.

If anyone has any ideas as to how i may be able to trace him I would be grateful.

Hi Carol
thanks for the response.  I have no idea what time date the plaque is so i am going to get my sister to take a photo and e-mail it to me to see if it has a date on it.

i haven't tried the owners of bristol arcade as i am not sure who owns it but will try them first.

Thanks again

I dont know whether any one will be able to help me.  In the Bristol Arcade in Sleaford there is a plaque which states "Post Horses and Carriages For Hire - Charles Smith Proprietor".  I am not sure what date this relates to.  My late uncle told me that Charles Smith was a relative of ours but i cannot find a Charles Smith in my family who would have done this as an occupation.  The only Charles Smith i can find was a market gardener who was my great grandfather.  Does any one have any ideas how i may be able to go about tracing this Charles Smith to see if he was indeed related to my family.

Many thanks

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / David Painter
« on: Saturday 04 September 10 22:00 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the whereabouts of David Painter born in Auchtermuchty, Scotland in 1890.  He married Elsie Gall Yule in 1923.  I have come across a photograph on ancestry.co.uk taken of the North Public School in Auchtermuchty featuring a David Painter which states that he was a Master Grocer in Durban, S.A.  I presume that this may be the same David Painter that I am trying to trace and that he emigrated to South Africa.  The photograph was taken from the Fife News Almanac in 1931.  Does anyone have any ideas how I could find out if this is the same David Painter.  I am sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place.

Any help  would be appreciated
