Wiltshire / Information on a wedding details?
« on: Thursday 09 May 13 23:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I have been doing family history for a few years and i do have to ask a question that i do not know an answer to at present.
For instance my example is someone married in say 1854 who gives their fathers name example moses.
I would assume that moses is alive in 1854 but i think in a few instances i have already found that the person named has died.
It is natural for the person getting married to name their parents alive or dead, As this is the case would it not have been a lot simpler to have just said deceased.

Any thoughts as it means finding some relatives harder in this instance.

Gloucestershire / Re: William Wallis and Mary Evans

Victor,

Thanks for doing this checking at least i now know that the Mary Evans i have from 1766 is not the  same Mary from 1761 Avening who married William Wallis.
Although it was a long shot i do not have a match in this instance, however i do not know of John Evans and Mary from Avening but would think that at some point i could find a relationship.
Mary parents i have are Robert and Dinah likely from Bitton but were living in Avening by 1759.

At least it looks like William married 3 times in the time scales that were already mentioned.

Thanks again
Azurich

Hi Victor,

I was aware that the William Wallis that i am mentioning married Sarah Winston and Marry Berryman but on this web site http://www.glosgen.co.uk/records/minchmarr7.htm you have a William Wallis married to Mary Evans the date is William Wallis & Mary Evans 1 Mar.  1791.
This transcription is taken from Volume 11 of Gloucestershire Parish Registers - Marriages, edited by W.P.W. Phillimore, M.A., B.C.L., and published in 1905 by Phillimore & Co.

From this the children i mention are likely to have happened, the William i am looking for is probably between 1762-1769 and Bisley is likely as so is Winchcombe.
As William married in 1787 and 1799 is it possible he was also married in 1791 or do you think it is just another William Wallis i should be looking at now?
The Mary i have is born about 1766 Avening glos, so the marriage date would tie in well in 1791 she would be about 25 years old.
I think i shall check for death records of Sarah and Mary Wallis about these 3 event dates of about 1787-1790, 1791-1798 for further answers.

Thanks Victor it would be very interesting if you find anything more.

Gloucestershire / William Wallis and Mary Evans
« on: Wednesday 01 May 13 21:47 BST (UK)  »
::) Am looking for information regarding the marriage of William Wallis Born about 1762 Bisley Gloucestershire, to 1769 Winchcombe Gloucestershire.
William Married Mary Evans on 9 July 1791 as far as i can remember, Mary was from Avening i think they may have married in minchinhampton but i do have to check.
Children of this marriage i probably have correct as William Wallis 1791 Minchinhampton, Edward Wallis 1793 Minchinhampton and probably but not sure Mary Wallis 1798 Gloucester Westgate area postcode now would be gl1 2pg.

Any Help on the Above of William and Mary would be very helpful thanks.
