Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: DOWN family Canada
« on: Thursday 07 May 20 21:58 BST (UK)  »

Thanks Trishanne good job on cleaning up the pic.   I think the boy, my Uncle Charlie is annoyed with his little brother, but he looks like he's ready to hit him!.

Ian Nelson thank you to you as well, for a good job and the colour version is great.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to help us.

Thanks japeflakes.  I didn't realize I had left all that "red" portion.  I guess when I resized it I assumed I didn't need to crop again.  I will know for next time.  It's been a while since I posted to the forum.  I guess I forgot!  Again thanks for the pic and the tip.

Thanks japeflakes you really cleaned it up and thanks for the colour version.  Did you mean I should crop out the border? or some of the other landscape background on the side?

DanNC also a nice job in fixing the cracks.  Yes the annoyed boy is my Uncle Charlie and the blond boy is his brother.  He obviously did something to tick off Charlie!

Hi:  Could this photo be restored.
The photo is my Down family.  The gentleman is my great grandfather Charles W. Down.  The little girl on the right is my mother Dolly.  The photo was taken in Toronto circa 1916.

Thanks,

Jerri

Thank you, Treetotal - Carol, and John - 76.  You both did a great job on cleaning up this photo.  I don't have any pictures of my Fitzgerald line so it's nice to have this one.

Hi:
Michael  Fitzgerald is my 2nd great uncle.  He was born and died in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I've googled the photographer S. J. Dixon and he was in business from 1872 until 1891 at Yonge and King Street in Toronto.  But a footnote states he was only at this location between 1880-1885.

Is it possible to clean up this photo?

Thanks,

Jerri, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Armed Forces / Soldier - Can you identify the uniform?
« on: Tuesday 05 February 19 22:47 GMT (UK)  »

Hi:
I don't know which relative this man might be.  The picture was in my grandmother's possession, so it might be her nephew.  I have several candidates that were born around the 1890's.  I thought he might be a soldier from WW1 Canadian Expeditionary but I really don't know.

Any suggestions?  This picture has been restored from the photo restoration forum here.  The original is sepia and there is nothing written on the back of it as to date, photographer etc.

Thanks,

Jerri

Thanks MartynS for the photo restoration,  Great job.   I would like to post on the military forum to see if someone there can identify the uniform.  Do I have your permission to do so?

Jim1 there is no marking on the back.  Maybe it's a copy of the original.
