His name is Ernest James Taylor (Could be Rose) born about 1905/8

The Father may be Frederick Charles Rose. Who was a Captain.

Frederick may also of had a son called Arthur, Lawrence and Freddy and a daughter called Mavis.

I am trying to help a friend trace their roots, and they have a Grandfather born Circa 1905 whom they believe was born in India whilst there father was on Military Service.

Any ideas where to start looking for this one.

They have a Marriage Cert (which was in the UK), but no other information.

Thanks for that Andrea.  Thats definitly him, as it is the same address that he gives on the Wedding Cert.

One of the anoying things about ancestry.co.uk is that you don't seem to be able to go to an address in the census.

This means I can concentrate on trying to find him in the 1891 and Sarah in the 41/51.

Check Army Records for the missing males

What's the best site for these.  Not had to do a UK search for Army Records yet.

True, and I can't find another Richard born in 1863 that fits either.

Still can't find Fred though  :( and Sarah earlier on is still missing :( :(

However there is a bit more to add to the tree though :)

Thanks for the interest.  I just don't get it the whole family just seems to disappear.

I know that in 1902 he's in Brighton,  as he  marries there.

I think that the 1891 ref for Sarah may be onto to something.  So will look those up.

Sarah is a bit of an enigma as well, as she doesn't appear on the 41 or 51.  I am begining to think that the entire family has access to some sort of invisability cloak.

Just wish the coat had been handed down to my part of the family.  Oh well the curse of being descended from the youngest member. ;)
