Well it has been 4 years since I last heard from Gaget and others about Robert and Thomas Sproat who settled in Oregon's Umpqua Valley.  All the inpu I got was accurate.  Still, I have parents for them.  Has anything changed in the data bases over these years to break down this wall?  ???

I have relatives that went from England to S. Africa, one to fight in the Boer War.  The names are from the Bowen family.  One is Percy Bowen St.John Bowen.  He fought and finally succumbed to dysentery or some such disease. I could go on but point I was wondering if you think you can help with this Bowen genealogy and military research on Percy.

I  have researched my Sproat family from Borgue/ Kirkcudbright, Scotland, for 10+ years.  I have heard of some of the family going to to S. Africa.  The reason was for the Boar War in 1901.  I would like to help you if still interested.  These specific adresses are great to have, are there any relatives you know of left in S. Africa? ???

South Africa / Re: South Africa to Bilston- Hesom

I have been corresponding with peep/ Patricia Sheldon and she has found out the following about our common family.  My mother was Barbara Bowen, grandfather was Arthur Kendrick Bowen both of Bilston.  Please see my post below.  Bernard Bowen died unmarried, but his sister Ida Constance Bowen married a  Robert Hesom, son of George Thomas Hesom who was born in Rugby Warwickshire England. Ida had 3 children.  All this also involves the Boer War in 1901 and a rather romantic story.  I hav a picture of Bernard Malims Gravestone in S. Africa frpm Patricia.  If any of this is of interest please post another note on RootsChat.

Still wondering about Treacle Delph?  It is a joke.  My mother refered to treacle as gooey substance, sometimes sweet.  Delph is a quarry.  Sooo...  Golcar is site of my families- Ainleys, Whitwam, Wood, Bowen

I have Whitwam in my family.  Daniel Ainley b. 1826 Longwood is probably not a direct relative.  I suggest you look at the Loughran Family at tribalpages.com Very thorough genealogy for the families we both seem interested in.  Also, a Steve Whitwam helped me a great deal a few years ago in my genealogy of Ainley and Drake.
