Herefordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Help needed - electoral roll Garway Hill
« on: Saturday 31 December 16 17:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Thanks for your reply. It will certainly be very difficult to prove anything.

No information was given on my mother in law's birth certificate and very little verbal info was given, except that he was called Ted.

We don't know if they lived together, was a fling or a one night affair. We are trying every angle we can in the hope to find something. Like you say though, proving paternity would be virtually impossible even if we did find someone of that name living with her.

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / Help needed - electoral roll Garway Hill

Hi all

Bit of a sensitive subject. Trying to find my husband's Grandad.

My husband's Mom doesn't know who her father is. The only thing she knows if that he was maybe called Ted (Edward).

Does anyone has access to electoral roll records from the late 40's to early 50's at all that would mind checking?

My mother in law was born in 1951. Her mother was Ada Barbara Jones, known as Barbara and lived on Garway Hill. Barbara may have still been living with her parents Ephraim and Mary Jones or may have been living with Ted at Dingle Cottage.
Not much to go on I'm afraid.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi Helen

Thanks a lot for your message.  My connection is through John and Jane's son George.  John and Jane were my Great Great Great Great Grandparents.
My line is: George Dockery and Matilda Lock - John Docker and Sarah Shepherd - Arthur Penn and Alice Docker - Herbert Jukes and Alice Penn - John Jukes and Janet Perry - John Jukes and Dawn Minchin - Then me.

Would love to know what info you might have.  I have a few certs and parish record info if that helps?

Regards
Ann-Marie

Thanks for your reply.  I think you are right about Ballybroghan, Killcooley.  I will see what I can find in Killcooley.

Thanks, again.

Roscommon / Docker(y)/Haden/Egan County Roscommon

I have been researching my Docker(y) family in Birmingham and am once trying to find out more about their County Roscommon roots...Any hints or help would be much appreciated!  Name variations are making it hard..
John and Jane Dockery have all of their children christened at St Chad's RC Church Birmingham between 1825 - 1845.  Most of the time Jane's maiden name is listed as Egan and sometimes Haden, Ethan, Hayden..
I haven't as yet found a marriage for them in Birmingham which makes me wonder if they married in Ireland.  Census states that they were from County Roscommon and one census is hard to read but looks like Bally Brothen...could be a townland Bally Broghan or something??

John died in 1858 and Jane remarried in 1861 to Joseph Duffield.  The marriage certs states that she was a widow called Jane Rudge (she was living with a rudge on the 51 census).  It also states her father was Michael Haden who was a butcher.
I think that Michael Haden/Egan the butcher might be a route worth looking down.
Would there be any trade type directories for Roscommon or anywhere that would mention a butcher?

I have all the census etc for their life in Birmingham and would like to take it a step back.

Other clues I have are that godparents for a couple of Jane and John's children were Patrick Docker and Kitty Egan.  Not a lot to go on but every extra name helps in family research.

If anyone can offer up any hints or has any idea what the village/townland is or if there is anything to be found on Michael the Butcher I would appreciate any clues!

Thanks
Ann-Marie

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Wells & Field marriage - Ipsley

Hi Jack, thanks a lot for both of your replies!  I was hoping to see a Pinfield named as a witness but in true family history research style it keeps us guessing.

Thanks a lot for your help, will try to find other avenues to explore.

Thanks for all of the replies!! Susannah had William and Jane and we think Luke as you say there is a christening for Luke in 1815.
William married Charlotte and on the census Susannah is living with them.  William's sister Jane seemed to have died by the 41 census so I think that burial you have found sounds about right.

I would love to find out if there is any other info for the marriages on the parish records that could give me any clues as to the father.

William seemed to us the surname Pinfield Wells where as Susannah and Jane were just Wells...

Hi, thanks for the reply! That is the family.. Susannah had 2/3 illegitimate children William and Jane are definite and then possibly Luke.  I have managed to get all the census info and am hoping to try to find out more.
Have had numerous trips to records office and then came across Jane's marriage to John Field at home...need to get back to records office really.

:-)
