That's amazing 'gingerbit', thank you so much. It really would be quite something to reunite the bracelet with a living descendant.

Thanks again for your help!

I should add, that we believe this bracelet must have been left in Shoreham some time shortly before February in 1918, which was his deployment date (07-02-1918). I am still awaiting his war records from the National Archives, (or what there may be of them)

Either option would be great thanks 'Gingerbit', Gloria has waited a lot of years to find this out, so a little while longer won't hurt. Thank you so much. Is there a photo of Philip's gravestone  by any chance?

Thanks for that 'Pampoen'. The big question is did Phylis and Philip have children? Do you know if there exists a database with such information?

Thanks again for your help.

My friends mum, Gloria Wall, found a silver bracelet inscribed with 'Lt P.F.H. Simon'- 'C of E'- 'R.F.A' in her garden on Shoreham beach 1988. I have researched and found his name to be Philip Frederick Howard Simon, (6-5-1898 to 23-11-1953)and discovered his family of the time, and that he married Phylis Mabel Chevalier in Cape Town 1924. What we're hoping for, is to find any living descendant of Philip and Phylis Simon, in the hope of giving them the bracelet.

I hope someone here may be able to help us make Gloria's wish come true to reunite the bracelet.

Wow, thank you all for your input. I will contact the Jackson tree owner and compare notes. Regarding the Hart's, he lists them as 'In Laws' in the 1891 census, so perhaps one of them married one of his brothers? I have recently been told by the archivist at Lancing college that he didn't go there, but to their sister college, St John's College, Hurstpierpoint, listed in May 1874 as Edward Fitzgerald Trevor.
I also found the marriage certificate for Edward and Dorothy Agnes Valentine, 14-10-1915, where he names his father as John Salusbury Trevor, Major General, Royal Engineers, deceased, and his mother as Mary Trevor, nee Fitzgerald, deceased. I found this latest info on the Scotlands people  web site.
