Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Re: Hull Northern Cemetery, Chanterlands Avenue

Hello Julie
My apologies for not replying to your offer, that was very kind of you.  I was prompt by a message from another kind person yesterday which is when I realised I had missed yours.
If ever I can help with your tree please ask.
Best wishes

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Letitia Brown and family from Moneydig, Londonderry

Hi
Sorry I now know there is no connection to the Brown's. I have found out that my Letitia Brown is actually Letitia Kent.  She had originally married a William Brown who died shortly after their marriage. I didn't find this out until I eventually found she was married a third time and I was able to send for the marriage certificate which recorded a William Kent as her father who I think was in Ireland at that time and why Letitia's place of birth was recorded as Ireland

Thanks Brit2015.
What has become so evident is how much my dad and grandad look alike.
We are very proud of him as Victor volunteered in 1915 at the age of 16 years (like a lot of other young teenagers did and was injured in the Battle of the Somme). We only have this photo and one other so it has been great to see a very tired and torn photo brought to life.
Thanks everyone

Thank you so much.  I think I've narrowed the year the photo was taken down to between 1920 - 1928 and I believe it was in Lagos. Victor worked out there during this period and the white suite and cane chair he is sitting in would match perfectly

Dear all
These are just amazing! The photo I have is so faded and torn around the edges with pieces missing I'm bowled over by what you have all done. It means so much, thank you. We only have one photo of my late grandfather to date and I think this is another (which my dad will be able to confirm) and we have just found it so it means a lot.
Best wishes

I have just found this very old and falling to pieces photo and wondered if anyone could do something to improve it. Probably taken somewhere in the 1940's but don't know much more than that.
Many thanks

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Birth Jane Foster who married Robert Row
« on: Monday 24 March 14 09:13 GMT (UK)  »
Searching for the birth and parents of Jane Foster who married Robert Row(e) in St Andrews Church Wraysbury on January 14th 1786. She died in Wraysbury in 1832 and was 71 at the time so guessing she was born around 1761 but I cannot find any record of her birth in the Wraysbury Parish Records.  In the records is states she was a spinster of this parish at the time of her marriage.
Any help appreciated

World War One / What does (w) or (s) mean on a MEDAL CARD
« on: Thursday 27 February 14 17:11 GMT (UK)  »
On my grandfather's SWB Medal card, the last column asks if they served oversees answered with  either Yes or No. Before either of these words in brackets is (S) or (W). Does anyone know what these letters refer to?
Many thanks
Lottee
