One Name Studies: H to M / Re: Kneller- hampshire
« on: Friday 16 December 16 21:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I hope you see this as your post on this subject seems quite old.
I have a Henry Edom marrying an Ann Kneller in 1835 in Botley, Hampshire. Ann could be Ann Sophia Kneller, daughter of Alexander and Jane christened 25th Jan 1818. I think that Ann had a child, Amelia, in 1836, but then turned up married to Patrick Robert Macdonald in 1851 in St Heliers, Jersey, Channel Islands. Her daughter was now named Amelia Edom Macdonald.
I can't find out any further information on these families and so I'm hoping you have come across these in your research? Any guidance is appreciated.
Kind regards
Paul

Hi, does anybody on here have access to Monumental Inscriptions, St James Church, Holywell? I am looking for a transcription of the grave of Josiah Rickards. The photo i have, has difficult to decipher parts and so i'm hoping the transcription was done before the deterioration of the gravestone.
TIA

Wow, that was quick! Thank you ever so much for your help. The gravestone is not very clear, but it definitely doesn't say Joseph Hughes which is strange, unless Joseph had a brother and she married him also?
The rest of the family are correct, re Solomon, Elizabeth and Margaret, although Margaret's name is also unclear, but the dates match perfectly. The corrosion has definitely thrown up a mystery for me, but you have helped immensely, so thanks again.

Flintshire Lookup Requests / Help with a Holywell Gravestone, Rickards, Hughes
« on: Thursday 08 May 14 16:46 BST (UK)  »
I came across this gravestone from St Winefred's, Holywell on BillionGraves and they've transcribed one of the names on it as Maxwell Hughes 1797-1846 and his wife, Eliza Hughes (I'm presuming nee Rickards as this is a Rickards grave) 1796-1853. I cant find any record of this person existing. My interest is with the Rickards in this area as it is an almost unique surname in Flintshire. Is there anyone on here who has access to the 1841 Census who could search for these people for me?
TIA

Hi
George James Kerr was married to Lucy Moore 21 Dec 1886 and was in the Navy. He served from 1876 to about 1895. He was born in Limerick in Ireland to John Charleton Kerr and Matilda (maiden name unknown)
His daughter, Lilian Lucy Kerr had two sisters, Gertrude Margaret Kerr (my great-grandmother) born 1891 and Dorothy Elizabeth Kerr 1899-1921.

Hope this helps

Paul

Re Arthur BELLIS and Harriet JONES Oldham Marriage 1905. In the 1911 Census, there is a Arthur BELLIS and wife, Harriet TRAVIS? and  Mo-in-law Mary Travis living at 63 Neville Street, Shaw, Oldham, married 6 years. I'm thinking maybe it was transcribed incorrectly and the wife should surely have her husbands surname?

The Arthur BELLES has his occupation down as a housepainter, but in 1901 he was a Plumber and Gas fitter, the same as his father. There can't be many people with that name born in Widnes in the same year though so it's looking like a good possibility. Nice one thankyou.
