Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 Cencus look up please

Hi Heather,

Thanks for that. I wonder if he is another relative. I am looking for David senior the linen draper but David junior was a wheelwright and his family were living in Frederick Street, St Thomas in later census. His son William, my great grandfather, was a master mariner who migrated to Australia in 1862, where he had a son David etc.
There is also a strange tendency to have 2 children with the same name in one family, both living, among my Cookes which gets confusing. I know people often used the same name again if a child dies but I have several families with 2 of the same name a couple of years apart still living.

Trying to find DAVID COOKE occupation Linen Draper born Scotland. Probably living in the Liverpool area. Son of the same name aged 29/30 possibly still at home although he married in the last quarter of 1841.
Sorry not a lot to go on but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Mo,
That is very likely the one, the name Jane crops up in every later generation. Also the odd practice of having 2 children of the same name in the one family. Thanks for finding that with so little to go on.Much appreciated.
Daphne.

Thanks for replying.

All I have on John Shaw is his name and occupation from his daughter's marriage to David Cooke in 1841.
John's daughter was married in Liverpool but I have found no record of her baptism in the area so it is not necessary that the family came from there. Mary Ann was born in 1819 so would have been 22 in 1941 but since she married that year may not have been living with her parents when the census was taken. I do not have a date of birth for William but he married 1837 in Everton. There was  possibly another son John also a joiner.

Not sure of the address of the church Allan as I don't live in the UK.I have found the baptisms of ESTHER and MARY ANN (who I had previously not known about)on the Parish Clerks Register thanks to the earlier reply, they were entered as COOK but details including father's occupation all matched.
Thanks,
Panda :o

Record of the parents marriage there only.Thought it likely children would have been baptised there too.
