Frances is a widow aged 60 in 1911 living in Chester.

The only Frances I have found on the 1911 census in Chester is a farmers wife husband is Albert and they have been married for 38 years. So I don't think it is that one

I have re looked at where Frances Cooper was living and it could be Muxton... just between Donnington and Lilleshall

Hi
I actually have Robert Lowe & Frances Coopers marriage cert. and am on the same search for william.
The details on the Marriage cert. are as follows...
July 25th 1874 Robert Lowe a Bachelor (bricklayer) age 30 married Frances Cooper a Spinster age 24. At the time of the marriage he was living in Donington and she was living in Munton (if I am reading it right). His father is William Lowe a Labourer and her father is William Cooper also a Labourer. The witnesses at the wedding were Thomas Lowe and Martha Lowe. They married at the parish church in Lilleshall, Salop (marriage was by Banns).
I also have William Lowe & Kate Goddards marriage certificate ... 4th jan 1904 at nottingham register office, william lowe bachelor 24 years old (bricklayer) married Kate Goddard 21 year old spinster both were living at 58 Hyson Street, Hyson green His father was Robert (bricklayer) and hers was Walter (bricklayer) the witnesses have the surnames Ellis & Bromhead.
I hope this is of some help as I am struggling with the same details williams birth record and where was Frances in 1881? I have tracked the goddard side back a few generations in Cheswardine which is not that far away from lilleshall/donnington wood.

Ady... I was beginning to wonder that myself as I looked into the Cheshire and some of them didn't go overseas. I really appreciate the help, thank you.

Thanks Pete I will definatily have to go to the museum I think as I got much the same as you, maybe the records I am after were amongst the ones destroyed. A great deal more searching is called for on this one to get a better picture.
Thank you so much for your help on this.

Hi Domingo,
I think that will definately have to be my next port of call, although I am not sure how much help they will be able to give me as I only have an old photo and his birth details... which is not much to go on. I don't have any numbers for him or any idea of which part of the Cheshire he served in. I will definately give it a go. THANK YOU!

World War One / Look up request Cheshire Regiment - Frank Payton b1889 Bury, lancs
« on: Thursday 01 April 10 22:38 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone please help with a look up for any record on my grandfather, please.
Full name Frank Payton b1889 Bury, Lancs
from an old photo someone has helped me to identify the regiment as the Cheshire. I don't have any other information than that as he died when my mother was still young. all I do know is he lived all his life in Bury, Lancashire (apart from his service in the army).
Any help would be very gratefully received indeed as nothing is known about him.
Thank you
Dawn

Thank you Pete,
I have tried looking him up on ancestry records but with no results.
His full name was Frank Payton b.1889 Bury, Lancashire (This is where he was still living in 1911 census... working as a 'cotton worker' and he later married there as well). Unfortunately I don't have any more information than that.
If anyone can help with the medal card that would be amazing.
Dawn
