I certainly am running around in many circles and grasps at lots of straws  :)

I don’t understand why there might not be official records of her online, is this common? Please forgive me as even though I have been doing my family tree for many years I still am no expert as you can tell.

Arthur Loughlin New York to Plymouth on Marine Tiger arrival 22 sep 1948 this might be where his occupation changed to farmer. I can’t open the document as I don’t have ancestry anymore.

Thank you for your help by the way  :)

Thanks for the tip, I didn't think I should add onto an old post but from now on I will.
I can't seem to find how to view the documents I've already purchased on groni without paying again. Anyway from what I remember both parties were in their early 30s so makes them older and the man was older than the woman which conflicts with the info I have come across (Bridget was older)

Arthur's father was called James Henry Loughlin.

To be honest I aren't 100% she was born in Ireland but they definitely lived there as that is where the children were born

Yes I have had a few posts over the years...like I mentioned on my post.

The MC that was mentioned in 2013 I have already looked at that - like it was suggested all them years ago. It's not the right couple as the ages that got married don't match with the birth year.

I can assure you you I have looked at all the sites that I can find and tried many possibilities of the surnames. This is why I have posted here again as I can't find birth, marriage and death records  on this woman

I have tried that but I can't find anything that would confirm it's her. I've looked on the Irish and English sites at census but she isn't there. Not even a birth record

Hello. This is my mystery great grandmother and all I can find on her is travel records. I have been looking into her off and on for many years but keep getting defeated so give up

The information that I have is:

Born 5 June 1907 unsure where
Married Arthur Loughlin/in in 19?? .Arthur was transfered to Canada by the empire settlement act so they may if met there.

3 children born in 1934, 1937 and 1942

They lived in Ballyshanaghill

She travelled to the UK twice to and from Montreal in 1948 and 1958. I believe one of her sons moved to Canada.

The majority of this information is from the travel records I have found. I can't find any birth, marriage or death records. Any help will be truly appreciated.

Rosie,  that's such a nice suggestion him not wanting to remarry but wouldn't it of been frowned upon having children and not been married? Unless they lied and said they were.

Cathy, there certainly is some connection between the records you have found.

So Stephen could of been his uncle, going off some records? My grandfather (patrick) must of thought very highly of this Stephen as he called his son Stephen (my dad) also.

Where would I find merchant seaman records as that is the occupation of Stephen Quinn, I have looked on ancestry but nothing comes up (year wise) for Stephen?

Thank you for all your help.

Emma

The Common Room / Elizabeth Crouse...a bit of a mystery

Acording to my grandfathers marriage certificate she is his mother and his father was stephen quinn, both deceased by the time the wedding happened in 1952.

So I ordered their sons (my grandfather) birth certificate but the father has a line through it, making me think he was illegitimate.

I don't know if my grandfather is still alive, he left the marriage in 1954 when my dad was born. His mum left him when he was 7 so we know nothing about this side of the family.

Anyway after doing a bit of digging, I have found Elizabeth Quinn nee crouse had 3 children born in Sunderland in 1914, 1921 (my grandfather) and 1934. But that is it.

I cannot find a marriage anywhere Between Elizabeth and Stephen or even birth and death  records for these people.

What's my next step please?

Any help is most welcome.
