Cornwall / Cornish seamen
« on: Wednesday 25 January 23 20:16 GMT (UK)  »
hi,
I've come across some family who moved  to Cornwall and became variously *coastguards * Royal Navy personnel *master mariners.
Could some kind soul point me in the direction of a Cornish seaman's list or somesuch? If it exists?
Although I'm used to dealing with Welsh mariners, Cornwall is new territory for me......
many thanks Elaine

I'm afraid I have no insights - but this is a fascinating puzzle!

Berea cemetery.
A few years ago, I photographed all the graves at the cemetery.
If anyone would like a photo, let me know?

Jane's will [1823] can be found under the name of John Evan 1823 - another NLW mis-filed Will......

Glamorganshire / Llangiwg addresses for John and Jane Owen
« on: Saturday 10 April 21 21:17 BST (UK)  »
I am getting totally confused by the addresses for John and Jane Owen in the censuses for Llangiwg -
1841- district 8 - 'Pantycelyn'
1851- district 16 - 'Pantygylynen'
1861- district 17 - ditto
1871- district 17 - 'Mynydd Bach'
...and yet, going by the other people/houses around them, the house seems to be the same one....

Does anyone have any local knowledge to shed on this, please?

in confusion, Elaine!

This man's will can be found under 'Wm Lewis 1823' at Nat Library of Wales

Pembrokeshire / William Lewis of Clegyr, St Davids, died 1822

Just posting an information note here:
The will of William Lewis is in the National Library of Wales collection - but [like others I've found] is mis-filed - this  one is under 'Jane Griffiths died 1823'
Hope this helps somebody find his will!
