Thank you! Your help is much appreciated.
Yes I had found the baptism,  but I know there are a lot of Lamberts in the area. Most of whom i'm related to.

I was looking for John's as it is a common name in Arnold (where he is from) Plus there is a possibility he was illegitimate.

Hi,

Can someone help me? I'm trying to find where the Alfreton marriage/ parish records are kept.
I can find the marriage date, and the name of the bride and groom, but was wondering if the fathers' names maybe on the original.
I'm looking 23rd December 1822- John Lambert & Ann Skerritt.

Many Thanks
Lew

Hello, Long time no Raynor speak.
I ordered Florence & Arthur's wedding certificate, this gave Florence's farthers name as Alfred Brooks (Collier) Arthur's dad is also an Alfred but say deceased, so can we assume Alfred Brooks is still alive on 6th October 1906?
Now i assumed Alfred Brooks would be Florence's adoptive farther, but the strangest thing was that on Kate Brooks' father is down as Joseph Brooks on 23rd January 1933.
The best thing i found was a record of Kate's birth and christening, and you will never guess what! She was born in Nottingham Union workhouse to none other than one Emma Raynor!!!! I had always thought Kate was Florence's adopted sister, not real

Thanks again for all your help!

No not as yet. But I found a buriel in 1881 for an Esther Hare, which could possibly be the same woman, but then it still doesn't explain the name change, or where Thomas disappeared to.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / ** Satchell/ Hare Help In Newport **

Hello, I was struggling to find someone in my family, but then I realised he had changed his surname between 1881 and 1891.
In 1871 Alfred J Hare c1867 is living with his parents Thomas & Hester in Newport, but by 1881 he is living with an Isabella Bale who is showing as his Auntie. in 1891 Alfred is still living with Isabella but is now Alfred Satchell.
On further research I found that Isabella was born Isabella Satchell in c1843, but I cannot find evidence that she had a sister called Hester or Esther or even a brother or called Thomas.
I just can't find out what happened to Alfred's parents Thomas Hare c1848 & Hester Hare c1846 and why did Alfred and his siblings change their name from Hare to Satchell.
Can anyone help?

Hi Angie. Margaret Raynor is my GGrandma. Found a few things out about her, but I am also struggling to find any info on Emma Raynor. She seems to disappear after 1891 census, and I can't find her on an census' before 1891. I went to Nottingham Archives and found out when Emma went into the worrkhouse, and the Florence was definitely her daughter. But past that its all a mystery. I live in Mansfield, and work in Notts, so if you need to look into things for you, let me know.
