So updating my research in the last year, the following Essex Payne Family:
John Payne NZ /
George Wilfred Payne NZ /
Thomas Payne 1876 Taulau, Durham m in NZ /
John Sidney or Sydney Payne 1850 Copford, Essex m Ann Elizabeth Cuthbert/
George Payne1821 Gr Coggeshall, Essex m Sarah Brown /
George Payne 1799 Icklgham, Suffolk, England m Lucy Smith /
I have been digging deeply and after a chance visit to the ERO in person and on line, I have found Parish registry records that show the following:
George PAYNE was actually born in 1814, Great Coggeshall
and his parents were most likely to be:
James PAYNE/PAIN B:1791 and Amelia FOSTER B: 1787. Both in Great Coggeshall.
Parish records for St Peter Ad Vincula, Coggeshall, Essex, have provided a wealth of information and are linked to many of this grouping for baptisms and marriages.
I have proven that George Payne did marry Sarah BROWN through all the GRO birth registrations for all the siblings of JOHN SYDNEY PAYNE.
But my question still stands, why is there NO birth registration for John Sydney Payne B: abt 1850 nor a sister, Emma Payne B: 1862?
Was he adopted? Were they both?
DNA is proving to have no matches amongst the PAYNE nor FOSTER line. Maybe I am wrong there too.
Anyway, hope all the Payne researchers are still digging and maybe a FOSTER researcher might chance upon this thread.
Cheers
Gaye
