Hi Gordon59

My father was William Rule Mclean b. 1909 in Motherwell Lanarkshire. His father was James Robert Mclean b. 1865, and his mother was Margaret Rule b. 1870  and were married in Motherwell in 1892. Her parents were Alex Rule b. 1838 and Elizabeth McIntyre b. 1841 , and were married at Comrie Perth in 1866. Alex Rule's parents were William Rule b. 1808 and Agnes Young b. 1808 and were married at West Linton Peebles 1834.

This makes William and Agnes my grt grt grandparents but I don't have any info on the extended families.

Thanks for the message , and let me know how you get on.

hi folks

further to john being in jail as shown in the 1901 census, the local paper (the motherwell times dated 5th april 1901) records a john mackenzie being find 15/- or 10days in jail for using abusive language.

i assume this is my john, so i'll move on and check out other leads.

thanks again for your help

Lanarkshire / john mckenzie
« on: Sunday 06 January 13 17:08 GMT (UK)  »
hi folks

a wee bit help to find what eventually happened to john mckenzie.(born 1865)

i've got him in the 1871census aged 6 staying at king street in motherwell lanarkshire, with his parents robert and elizabeth (betsy) mckenzie.

in the1881 census he is now staying at st vincent place in motherwell aged 15 with his mother, his father i assume passed on.

in the 1891 census his mother elizabeth (betsy) nee munro is now staying with her daughter catherines family at king street again, her family seemingly broken up and gone their separate ways.

any help on johns movements would be appreciated.

best regards to all in 2013
