« on: Sunday 12 November 17 23:15 GMT (UK)  »
Greetings to All,
William Bowden is my Great Uncle that I have been searchingh for.  All of your notes are very helpful and I will follow up on them as this is the focus of my research.
William was the son of Henry Bawden and Elizabeth Webber.  He was born 29 March 1847 in North
Molton Devon.  Had two brothers, James Bawden and Joseph Bowden.  Names changes++.
If any of you are a descendant of this family, Please contact me.
Thank you
Winnifred

Greetings,
I have just received the marriage certificate of William Bowden and Elizabeth Gould. They married 25 Feb 1869.  This Certificate confirms that William is the son of Henry Bowden and is my Great uncle. He Died 1879.  I am waiting for the death cert.  I am certainly looking forward to receiving more information about  Williams Descendants.

May be a long shot, but my step-father's family are all Gould's (in South Wales), and his brother has done extensive research into the family - I know that the family were originally from Devon, but don't know the specifics.

I'll print this off and speak to him this week (won't be tonite) to see if he has any matches on this.

Eliza had a brother George  aged 16??? 1891 census -  hard to read as it has been scored out

Her step sisters/brother are

Thomas aged 13
Helen M aged 7

In particular, I am looking for patrilineal descendants of Bawdens in North Molton.

I am a descendant of Bawden/Webber line.  I have tried to send you my e-mail address but that is a No no.  I would like to connect with you but How?????

My Ancestor Samuel Smith died in the Hastings Ore Union warehouse Jan 22 1876. His Wife Mary Ann Died  Jan 16 1873, at East Hills House Hastings.  How can I find out where these folks are buried?

Brick wall: Amon Samuel Smith (birth 1853) was last found in the 1871 Census living with his grandparents Samuel and Mary Ann Smith at East Hill House. It appears on the Census that his middle initial is J.
Samuels' Grandfather, Samuel Smith, was an annuitant and was infirm. He died in 1876.  His mother, Eliza Smith, had  died in 1868.  In 1871 his occupation was a waiter but I do not know where.¹
Any pointers very appreciate.
Although I'd love to, I can't visit as I live across the pond
Thank you
Win

Devon / Re: William Bawden

Thank you Carol.
I will look into that Death.
There were a lot of Bowdens and Bawdens in the North and South Molton Areas. It is a big challenge to get then sorted out and I don't think will be able to do that any time soon. William was born Bawden.  I have his birth Certificate.  When his father Henry died in Somerset, Henry was  Bowden.  William's brother James retained the name Bawden.  Joseph the other brother became Bowden.
Henry's children by his 2nd marriage were all spelled Bowden.
 Thanks again.

Devon / William BAWDEN

I am searching for William Bawden, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Webber) Bawden, born 1847 in North Molton. I have him on the 1861 Census at age 16 years, living at Fore Street, with his maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Webber. He was a mason's helper.  Despite much searching I have been unable to find him after 1861.  I have traced his brothers, James, and Joseph. who is my direct ancestor.
Any help is appreciated
Winnifred
