Lancashire / Re: Locating a grave at Ford Cemetery and getting headstone picture

Hi, is there a chance that I can perhaps piggyback on this post and request a lookup and even pictures for 2 graves in that cemetery? They are Michael Bradley 1866 Plot DZ465 and Mary Jane Bradley 1867, plot D685. It is very likely that they are public but even a picture of the general location would be great. thank you in advance.

Sligo / Re: GANLEY family
« on: Thursday 19 June 14 01:21 BST (UK)  »
I have a Bartholomew Ganley, born circa 1831 in Co. Sligo in my family tree, he was my great great grandmothers brother. I have his father as Bartholomew Ganley, born circa 1791 in Co. Roscommon, died 1840 in Lincolshire, UK and his mother was Mary Honara, born 1793 in Co. Sligo, died 1870 in Lincolnshire, UK. He had many brothers and sisters: John Henry, Elizabeth, Mary, Joseph, Anne, Thomas, william, James, Catherine. I'm not 100% sure I've got this right but let me know if this could be the Ganley you're looking for.

Cheers

Tracey

Hi,

I have a George Ganly, b. 1789 Co. Roscommon, m. to Elizabeth Hoare b. 1787 in Co. Roscommon. They possibly married in Co. Roscommon. They had a dau. Elizabeth b. 1828 in Edinburgh, Scotland. It sounds like my George and and your Bartholomew could be related!

Unfortunately I don't have any more information but if you have, please let me know!

Hi,

Are the photos not of St Bartholomew, Winstone - the church where he was Rector?

There were some photos etc., sold recently described as
ANTIQUE PHOTOGRAPH ALBUMS REV HAYWARD & BEALE FAMILY WINSTONE MINCHINHAMPTON

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANTIQUE-PHOTOGRAPH-ALBUMS-REV-HAYWARD-amp-BEALE-FAMILY-WINSTONE-MINCHINHAMPTON-/151299475299?nma=true&si=P0VgKLwU78UOIhBlN8GM6PMosHg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Look at the fancy top to the front pew on photo from e-bay and the one submitted to this site.

Google search will find present day photos of this  C of E Church

Isn't it the code found on Birth Certificates issued by the GRO? I imagine in the context of an electoral roll it would have been used to differentiate two people with the same name.

All the GRO birth certificates I have only have six numbers. BXHV/194/2 is a National Registration Identity Card Number mine is JBDE/222/4

Stan

Ah! thanks for the clarification :)

For geographical reasons, emigration to Scotland is probably more likely from the north of Ireland.  From my own research it seems that most who went to Cumberland arrived from Antrim and Down and I'm sure it's probably true for Scotland too.

I would agree with that... In fact, when I thought of Ballynahinch, I was thinking about the one in Co. Down, but I thought research was focused on Co. Galway - and there is also a Ballynahinch there. I am not even sure it *is* Ballynahinch anyway :( Very difficult.

Myself, if it's near Galway, I'd go for Ballynahinch

Thanks, Elsie! that book sounds like a great find!  Do you know where I can buy it?
Do you know if the church is still on consecrated land?
