The Lighter Side / Re: Birth Certificate Shock
« on: Monday 16 January 12 19:02 GMT (UK)  »
My grandmother ,born in Ontario Canada  in 1878, went by the name Emma Jane all her life.  After her husband died she needed her birth  certificate.  When it came back it said her name was Francis Howell.  Grandma and the rest of the family just assumed that her father had registered her in the name he wanted and then kept quiet about it.  A few years ago I found her certificate on the internet.  She at been registered by her grand father ,not her dad, by the name Emily Jane.  In 1909 or 29 someone else  from another province with her family surname sent in a name change to Francis Howell.  I don't know who did it or were the other name came from as there  is no Frances in the family.  The Howell maybe the maiden name of her fathers mother.

Sarah Adcock Tite died 25 April, 1854, age 65.
They are buried in St. John's Anglican church yard in Brookbury Quebec.
This is a stretch of the road from Bury to Bishopton Quebec

Norfolk / James Tite and Sarah Adcock

I am looking into the Tite family.  They were married 21 Oct, 1789 in Bunwell.  I got this from FreeREG.  They went to Canada around 1836.  The children that came with them was Charles b. abt. 1810, Dennis b. 1823, David b. 1826, Elizabeth b. 1830.  George b. 1840 was born in New York state.  Mary Ann was born early enough to marry in 1837.  Charles was married to a women who was also named Sarah.
What I would like to know is the birth dates of James and Sarah and their parents.  Names of children who did not come to Canada and if possible their children.    In the 1891 Canadian census two more Tites came to Canada, Thomas, age 22, which would make him born around 1869, and William age 17 which would have him born around 1874.
The Tite family settled Bury Quebec. I have info on these people in Quebec.
