Hi Judith

Not a problem :)

Thank very much, we checked that out and it triggered some memories of stories she had been told by her uncles. She is thrilled with what we have been able to find out.

I am helping my husband's cousin's wife with her side of her family tree

Her father was born in Russia in 1902 and the extract below is from USA/ Canada border crossing information. The top line gives mother's place of birth and the lower line , the children's place of birth.

I rather suspect the place has been written phonetically and we have tried comparing with other words written by the immigration officer with no luck so far. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for a place of birth we would be very grateful.

Hi Gibby

Have you tried searching on the West Yorkshire Archives on line catalogue? It includes all holdings in Keighley Library.  I too have had experience of speaking to the individual you mention who is actually a "casual" with little knowledge of the holdings, but if you give him the actual "BK" reference he can get things out for you. (The Keighley holdings are prefixed with BK before the reference number).

There is a small book called Keighley in Old Photographs in the reference library. I think it could be one of Ian Dewhirst's pubilications. Happy hunting

Many thanks Westfrem. My husband's family are descendants of Daniel.

Since I posted this I have found a Rimmelion Moyse bapt 1792, in Shipborne  & a Rimmelion Moyce baptised in 1795 also in Shipborne and I wondered if she is the niece of "my" Rimmelion.

Your help is much appreciated

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Bradford 1920 Electoral Register
« on: Sunday 07 July 13 14:04 BST (UK)  »
I am not aware that they are on line. Do you know which area of Bradford they lived, as the registers might be held in a local library branch. I know that the Keighley registers are held in my local branch. Currently the central Bradford library is closed (they found asbestos) and being relocated to a new building later this year.

Keighley Library also has a large collection of films with Keighley News and other local  papers. Craven Herald is is the paper for Skipton. You get a bit of overlap between the papers.

Keighley also has transcripts of St Anne's Church, the RC in Keighley .As he is buried in Utley Cemetery, the funeral service could have taken place there.
