Lancashire / Re: Help finding a father’s name.

Thanks everyone for your help! I am primarily interested in confirming Alice Ann Taylor’s father’s name. I suspect he is the Thomas Taylor who married Alice Ryder, but without a marriage certificate for Andrew Flynn and Alice Ann, I’m not as confident as I’d like to be. (There were some other Alice Taylors born about the right time fairly near to Liverpool. Years ago I ordered all those birth certificates.) I suspect that Andrew and Alice Ann didn’t marry.
Is it odd that she had her children baptised, but didn’t marry the father?
(Alice Ann died in 1905 from complications of childbirth. Her older son registered the death. Andrew put his younger children, including my grandfather, in a Catholic orphanage. He then drank himself to death. According to his death certificate he died in 1908 after falling down the stairs and fracturing his skull while intoxicated.)

The Andrew Flynn, Musician, is my Andrew Flynn. The address is correct: 20 Rupert Grove, is the address on his father’s death certificate.
Is it possible he was temporarily working as a mechanic in 1911?
(My grandfather Patrick Flynn was calling himself Alfred Flynn in 1911, and did for the rest of his life!)

Thanks for all the suggestions! It’s early here in the US, so i’m just now reading them. I know about Andrew Flynn Jr  and his service in Ireland, but I’m still hoping to find information about a possible marriage between Andrew Sr and Alice Ann Taylor. I’m primarily interested in sorting out who her parents are.
Thanks again!

Hi wivenhoe,
I know it’s my family in all 3 censuses, but I’m not sure if or how Andrew Flynn is related to Thomas Taylor, though that’s something I’ll definitely start looking into. I think it’s time to renew my Ancestry subscription!
Thank you for pointing my in the right direction!

He married 22 July 1929 in Liverpool.

I did a bit of research and realized that I’d already found the Andrew Flynn who married Sarah Carroll. He was a Tailor (Journeyman). Sarah died in 1871 in Calton.

Hi Ladyhawk,
Thanks for that information. Years ago I searched Scotland’s People and never found a marriage for Andrew Flynn—no matter how I spelled the surname!
Do you know how I could get a copy of the marriage certificate?
Thanks again!

He was married to Sarah in 1881, but there appears to be no record of the marriage.

I’ve found Andrew in 1881. He’s living with Sarah, who is supposedly his wife (though I’ve found no record for this marriage either). She was apparently born in Scotland.
