Cavan / McMAHON Family
« on: Sunday 06 December 09 22:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I am looking for any information about the family of my ancestor Philip McMahon.  He was married to Elizabeth MEEHAN, and had at least one child that I know of (my great grandfather) John McMahon who was baptised on 12/12/1830 in the parish of DRUMGOON.  I have found a reference to the death of a Philip McMahan in Castletara on 14/11/1868.  He lived in Corrahanoo, but I am not certain if this is my Philip McMahon or not.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could confirm this?  And how would I go about tracing Philip McMahon's own parents and any other children he and his wife Elizabeth might have had?

Waterford / William FLYNN, son of James from Co Waterford

Hi. I am new to this list and this is my first post and am facing a very large brick wall. Can anyone help. I am trying to search for my Irish Ancestors who came from Waterford Ireland. I am searching (so far totally unsuccessfully) for any details about the family of my Great Grandfather William FLYNN.  All I know from William Flynn's marriage certificate and death certificate is that he was born in County WATERFORD and that his father was James FLYNN.  His date of birth is uncertain because his marriage certificate disagrees with his death certificate, but we think it was about 1849 or thereabouts.  The other facts of which we are certain is that he was a seaman, and he arrived in South Australia in 1876 when he married Jane MCMAHON in Adelaide.  One other possible clue is that William named his first child Margaret, so his mother may have also been named Margaret (his wife's mother's name was Mary). With such basic information I am not sure how to proceed from here.  I would be so grateful if we could get any lead on this elusive family of mine.
