If anyone has a copy of the census for 1861 covering the Bethnal Green area, please could you look up John Cushion aged 6 or 7 years?

They were definitely living in Bethnal Green at that time - though I don't have an address. His father was John Cushion too (b. 1829) and mother Anne or Annie (b.1828). There was at least one brother - William who would have been 8 or 9 years old at the time of the census.

Thanks

Europe / Look ups Aufbau Newspaper BMD Index Dec 1940 - Sep 1943
« on: Sunday 06 February 05 00:42 GMT (UK)  »
I have access to the Births, Marriages and Deaths index for the Aufbau Newspaper Dec 1940 - Sep 1943 - read widely by German-speaking Jewish Immigrants.

It was published during WW2 in New York but had many contributions from England, Australia, South America, South Africa and China. If you would like me to look anyone up then please post a reply.

I also have a copy of the list of those buried in the central Vienna cemetery between 19.6.1942 and 1.9.1942 - consisting of name, date of death and age at time of death.

I am looking for any information about the Schermuly family (any members) in 1851. They were definitely in the East of London at that time.

The head of the household would have been Conrad (or Johannes Conrad) born in Germany or Prussia in 1829.

His wife was Eliza, born Hereford in 1834 - he may have had another wife prior to this though.

I have found a child Sarah Ann b. 1848 in East London.

The next child was born in 1852 in East London too - so they should thev been there at the time of the 1851 census.

Any help gratefully received

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1861 look up - St. Lukes/Holborn
« on: Friday 04 February 05 15:36 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for Sarah Ives or Sarah Curry in the 1861 census.

She was born c. 1826 in Shropshire. Her first husband was James Ives, I know she had a daughter with his surname in 1862 (Rosina Ives). She was born in St. Lukes.

By 1881 she was remarried to Thomas Curry. They were living then in Holborn.

I would be interested in any information about Sarah Ives from the 1861 census - was her husband still alive? Were there any other children?

All information would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / 1841 census look up - Eliza Cross
« on: Thursday 03 February 05 22:57 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help?

I am looking for Eliza Cross in the 1841 census. She was born in or near Hereford in 1836 (later census returns state Herefordshire, Hereford and Eden, Hereford). She was married in London in 1855 but I can't find her in the London 1851 census.

She would have been 4 or 5 years old in 1841. If anyone can find her in the Hereford census in 1841, I'd be very grateful for any information.

Thanks in advance for your help

I am having truble finding this lady! Her name was Elizabeth Sophia Ives - though the surname could be Hives.

In the 1871 census she is listed as Sophia aged 20 years. In the 1881 census she is listed as Elizabeth Sophia aged 31 years - but she lost a few years by the time she got to the 1891 census and is listed as Elizabeth aged 38 years! She does not appear in the 1901 census that I can find.

At the time of the 1851 census she would have been a small child - probably 1 year old. If anyone can find her, I would love to know her parents names, ages and birth  places, her father's occupation and any siblings she might have had.

Thanks in advance for your help

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / 1851 census look up - Thomas Burkes, Birmingham
« on: Thursday 03 February 05 22:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hi! Can anyone help me? I have hit a brick wall trying to find my great great great grandfather.

According to the 1871, 1881 and 1891 census he was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire c. 1846 i.e. he would be about 5 years old in the 1851 census.

His name was Thomas Burkes but the Burkes is spelled differently in each census return I have checked - Burke in 1871; Berks in 1881 and Burkes in 1891.

I know nothing about his parents or siblings - if you can find any trace of him on the 1851 census and give me any information about who he was living with then, I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance

I am having problems finding my great great great grandfather! His name was David Jones (David Jonathan Jones I think). According to the 1871, 1881 and 1901 census he was born c. 1840 in Devonport - according to the 1891 census he was born in Plymouth.

He married before 1862 in Jersey, but does not feature on the 1861 or 1851 Jersey census. I can't find him on the 1851 Devon census either.

He should be on the Devonport or Plymouth 1841 census as a child of 1 year or less. I would be very interested to know his parents names, his father' s occupation and any other siblings listed.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I would be grateful if anyone could look up my great great great great grandfather and his family in the 1841/1851/1861 census.

His name was John Henry Cushion and he was born in Bethnal Green in 1829. He lived in Bethnal Green most of his life so is likely to have been there in 1841/1851.

I would be interested to know who he was living with in 1841 (age approximately 12 years) as I know nothing about his parents or siblings.

I know he married c. 1850. His wife was Anne or Annie and she was born in 1828/9. I would be interested to know if John Henry was married to Anne by the time of the 1851 census and if they had any children. If not, I would be interested to know who John Henry was living with.

By 1861 John Henry and Anne Cushion had at least 2 children - William born c. 1852 and John born c. 1854 - were there any other children living with them in 1861?

Thanks for your help
