Dublin / Bolands of Dublin
« on: Wednesday 01 March 23 00:09 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the parents and children of Thomas Boland who was born in Dublin in 1807 and married Rebecca (unknown last name) who was born in Dublin in 1806. They went to first England
where a son James was born in 1835. And then about 1849 they went to Canada to Labrador and Newfoundland . Thomas was a minister with the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts (SPG). He died in March 1856 and is buried in St. Georges Bay Newfoundland. Rebecca died on May 7 1883 and is buried in Lawrencetown Nova Scotia.
I am trying to find out who his parents were and if he and Rebecca had more children.

Canada / Edward George Hill
« on: Wednesday 30 March 22 18:24 BST (UK)  »
I'm  trying to find more information on Edward George Hill who was born in 1877 in Wendron Cornwall England and came to Canada probably about 1881. He is in the 1881 census of Chinguacousy Ontario with his bother Richard and Richard's family and older sister Elizabeth who later married Thomas Leck.
I believe he is in the 1891 census of Trafalgar in Halton County working for Jacob Olmstead. An older sister Mary Pearce and her family are living in Trafalgar at this time so I believe he may have moved close to them. That is the last I can find for him and I was hoping to get more information if possible. Thanks for any help.

« on: Monday 12 April 21 00:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi am trying to find out when Annie Sinclair from Petrolia Ontario died and where she was buried. according to the 1871 census she was born in 1865 to Duncan Sinclair and Catherine smith. Her sisters were Jennie and Roxalina. Her parents were buried in Hillsdale Cemetery in Petrolia but I have no record of her there. In the 1949 Petrolia voters list she is listed as a spinster. I haven't found any further record of her.
Thanks for any help

Canada / John Argue of Solina Ontario
« on: Saturday 23 January 21 22:13 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for information on John Argue who was born about 1807 in County Cavan Ireland. I'm trying to find out what year he came to Durham County in Canada and what year he married. He must have been single when he  came because he married Mary Stevens daughter of David Stevens and Mary Burk of Darlington Township. Mary was born in Canada. They farmed at Solina in Durham County and their first born Ira Richard was born in 1833 so they were probably married between 1830 and 1833.

Canada / Donald Fraser in Penetanguishene Ontario
« on: Wednesday 22 April 20 15:41 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find more about Donald Fraser born about 1811 and who died in Penetanguishene Ontario about 1862 or 63. Passed down from previous generations was that he was born in Inverness-shire Scotland to John Fraser (1772-1840) and Marjory Rose (1779-1850) and that he came to Canada about 1831. His wife is unknown but he had a son William D. Fraser who lived in Cleveland Ohio. Some of his siblings also came to Canada, Catherine (Smith) 1808-1887, Simon 1822-1857 and Angus 1821-1870 (deputy Sheriff in Goderich Ontario).
There is a tombstone in St. James-On-The-Lines Church Cemetery in Penetanguishene which may or may not be his. The date of death on it is June 2, 1863 and he is from Inverness-shire.

Inverness / Catherine Smith (Rose)
« on: Thursday 09 April 20 16:35 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find the date and place that Catherine Smith died and was buried. Her husband Alexander Smith, who she married about 1796, died on Oct. 5, 1854 and is buried in Dunlichity Cemetery I believe in grave #50.
Her name is on the tombstone but no dates with it. I can't find her in any census 1841 and onward.
Her last child Hugh was born in 1815.
I believe her parents were William and Isabel Rose.
Her husband Alexander was a Blacksmith at Achlaschoille which was in the, parish of Daviot/Dunlichity, according to his tombstone which was erected by their son Andrew who went to Canada in 1832.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Peel County Ontario picture
« on: Tuesday 07 January 20 23:08 GMT (UK)  »
Could the date of this picture be possibly determined by their clothes.  I believe it is either of Andrew and Catherine Smith taken in Peel County Ontario Canada probably in the 1870's or his son Alexander and his wife Euphemia at the same place but in the 1890's

Inverness / Mary McGillivray in Rossshire
« on: Monday 21 January 19 18:47 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for the connection between Miss Mary McGillivray who in 1943 was living in Rossshire and Donald McGillivray who died in December 1943 in Port Colborne Ontario Canada. His obituary says that his first cousin Miss Mary McGillivray living in Rossshire was his closest living relative. Donald's father John McGillivray was born in 1815 probably in Invernessshire so he must have had a brother who would be Mary's father maybe born around 1815 + or - 10 to 15 years.  And Mary may have been born around 1852 (Donald's birth year) + or - 10 to 15 years.
Donald never married and his mother was Marjory Smith.
It's not much to go on but John's first son and daughter were named Donald and Mary so perhaps those were his parents names.
Thanks for any help. ::)

Cavan / John Argue from Co. Cavan
« on: Wednesday 02 January 19 20:40 GMT (UK)  »
:-\ I am looking for the parents and grand parents of John Argue born 1805-1808 in Co. Cavan possibly in the Parish of Castletara. John came to the Durham region of Ontario Canada (farmed at Solina) ,date of arrival unknown, and married Mary Stevens.Their first child Ira Richard was born in Canada in 1833 so he came before that. The names I have for his parents (with no real evidence) are James Argue 1759-1837 and Ann 1763-1840. His grand parents may have been Thomas Argue 1725-1762 and Mary Smothergill 1730-1767 and his siblings may have been James 1803-1875 and Jane 1807-?
Possible siblings for James are Margaret, Jane, Thomas and George 1755-1804 who married Mary Wilson and moved to Stittsvlle in Ontario Canada.
Thanks for looking at this
