« on: Saturday 24 July 21 15:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello
I haven't posted on Rootschat for years. I am trying to find something out about the SARCHET family of St Peter's Port. Without access to BMD's it is incredibly difficult. The chap I am interested in is Ronald John Sarchet born on the 9th January 1919 in St Peter's Port Guernsey. I would love to find his parents.

Offaly (Kings) / FLANAGAN OF TULLAMORE
« on: Tuesday 08 November 16 21:01 GMT (UK)  »
I have had an amazing amount of help from this forum re the surname Flanagan you helped me find the following

Register of births for Tullamore,
Catherine daughter of William Flanagan and Mary nee Butler, Wm is a labourer, living in Clonminch. Born 29th June 1913 Registered 19th August 1913

I know these details are correct because her death index indicates her birth date was 29th June 1913 though the lady called herself Kathleen and by the time of her wedding in 1936 her Father is a retired Police Officer

What I find really puzzling is that Catherine's parents marriage was in 1889. I can find no other children born to the couple so why was Mary in her forties when she had her first child? I can find no other marriage of a William Flanagan to a Mary Butler. There were several Flanagans in the Tullamore area.

William Flanagan, aged 21, Batchelor, Labourer married Mary Butler, aged 20, Spinster, Servant. William from Cloneallague, Father James Flanagan, a labourer. Mary Butler from Tullamore, father is Patrick Butler, a labourer.married at Tullamore R.C. Chapel on the 6th March 1889
Witnesses Edward Callery and Mary Richards

The friend I am trying to help says that his mother Kathleen/Catherine told him she had a sister called Mary but I can't find her.

Thank-you once again
Mary

« on: Thursday 13 October 16 22:18 BST (UK)  »
Hello
I am interested in the surname Flanagan from Waterford.
In particular Kathleen Flanagan who was registered in Waterford in the June quarter of 1913 according to her marriage in Woolwich in 1936 her father was called William Flanagan and he was described as a retired police constable.  I do not know the name of her Mother but I think her parents were maybe married in the June quarter of 1907, Registration district Waterford.
I do have the registration references but not sure the best way to order certificates from England

Europe / NIEMANN GENEALOGY
« on: Monday 01 February 16 22:05 GMT (UK)  »
This is the first time I've written a query to this forum.
I am trying to trace my friends German family for her.
We know very little, her father came here as a prisoner of war of the Americans and was at Ashchurch depot in Moreton in the Marsh where he was batman to Colonel Francis Goodwin.
His name was Fritz Rudi Niemann and as far as we know he was born on the 1st April 1926 in Anhalt Dessau he had a sister called Lucy and his parents had twins who died. His parents were called Friedrich and Gertrude. His father worked with ceramic tiles.

I am researching the HUTCHIN surname and I have a family who went from either Iver in Buckinghamshire or Ware/Thundridge area to Wing and Leighton Buzzard.

John Hutchin married Ann Haydon at Watford in 1655 they had a son John baptised in Wing on the 4th April 1659 and Mary baptised. Wing on the 20th October 1661

I think John was the son of Thomas and Ann Hutchin baptised at Thundridge 24th November 1633

Thomas I think was  the son of John Hutchin baptised at Ware 29th September 1605

John maybe the son of John Hutchin baptised at Thundridge 27th December 1608

Has anyone access to these parish registers and can they tell me if any of these died as children?
Thanking you in advance :D

South Africa / Thomas and Martha Wilkinson
« on: Wednesday 21 November 12 18:00 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find anything about Thomas and Martha Wilkinson who emigrated to Kimberley and were married there on the 6th March 1881, they lived in S.A. for about four years and then emigrated to New South Wales. They had four children Thomas, Albert, Sydney and Cecil.
According to the age on his death certificate dated 1903 Thomas Wilkinson was born in Sunderland in 1851. He worked as an Iron Moulder. His father is listed as a builder on the death cdertificate but he and his wife's names were unknown by the informant Martha Wilkinson.
Martha whose maiden name was Dunkley was also born in 1851 she was born in Bedford. I am not sure if it is the one in Bedfordshire or the place a few miles from Oldham.
Any information would be welcome as I am completely stuck.

Thank-you in advance

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Christening or birth in Newport
« on: Monday 06 February 12 15:26 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for a chap called John Mortimer who in most official documents gives his birthplace as Newport, Gloucestershire and his father as Thomas Mortimer.
According to his attestation papers he was born in 1828, as he entered the Royal Artillery in December 1846 aged 18 years.
I would be grateful for any help that could be given to help me find his baptism.
Regards
Mary
