Derry (Londonderry) / Mary Anne Crockett / Slaghtabogy
« on: Sunday 17 March 19 13:36 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to establish parents of Mary Anne Crockett from Slaghtabogy, Maghera.

She married Joseph Patton and they had 7 children between 1878 and 1893, the first of whom was Archibald, named after Joseph's father.

I can find no reference to the marriage of Joseph and Mary Anne. I can find no reference to her death which should have been sometime between 1893 and 1903 as it appears that Joseph married Annie Cassidy in 1903.

Many thanks in advance.

World War One / RFC /RAF unit codes
« on: Tuesday 22 May 18 22:04 BST (UK)  »
Two of my father's uncles (brothers) enlisted with the RAF towards the end of WW1. I have managed to decipher the RFC/RAF unit codes for one brother but am running up against a wall with the second.

From other posts I have RD as Farnborough but are RD(D) and RD(R) also Farnborough?

The units I am struggling with are SYHC, 199YS, 200YS, E & PD Renfrew, IDE.
Marske and Eastchurch I understand but the service record is marked in red pen. Are these corrections / edits around the time of his discharge?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello

Would appreciate an estimated date for the attached picture taken by John Phillips in Belfast, Co. Antrim, supposedly of my great great grandmother Jane McCracken Crockett. I have my suspicions as she died in 1871 age 45.

Information on John Phillips with thanks to Aghadowey and Scotmum from this thread : http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=768123.0

Many thanks

Antrim / Phillips photograghy studios Belfast
« on: Saturday 25 March 17 01:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

Trying to date an old family photograph which was taken in Phillips studio Belfast. There are a few threads going back ten years and more in relation to historical studios in Belfast but none which has identified the studio or when it as active. I am particularly interested in when it was operational.

Many thanks in advance.

Enumerated in the 1860 Boston Census are Archable Blue, age 23, born "Dennegall, Ire" and his wife Sarah, age 22, born "Dennegall, Ire".

Try as I might I can find no other references to this couple - arrival in the US, other census, births or deaths. Any help much appreciated.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / McCloud / McCleod Newport ****COMPLETED****
« on: Thursday 29 April 10 00:23 BST (UK)  »
Any help with this problem appreciated

Margaret McCloud d. Sep 1849 Newport (Vol 26 page 111)

Alexander McCloud listed in 1851 census for Newport age 7 but no ref in fbmd to birth. Census return says that he was born in Newport.

John McCloud b. Q3 1846 Newport (Vol 26 page 123)

Peter McCleod b. Q2 1848 Newport (Vol 26 page 1_8)
Peter McCleod d. Q2 1848 Newport (vol 26 page 89)

I assume (dangerous !) that the two Peter McCleod are the one and the same but these are the only 4 names I can find from any variation of McCloud in census returns or on fbmd which begs the question what was Margaret's husband's name ?
 McCloud was her married name.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Wise's PO directory & New Zealand Gazette
« on: Wednesday 17 February 10 01:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I found Wise PO Directories and the New Zealand Gazette from the 1880's-ish to 1905 on line. They are two of the databases included in the resources of http://worldvitalrecords.com/

Neither are searchable in their own right but if a name entered in a search is found in either publication it is returned in the search results. The results are PDFs of the original publication and can be saved or printed.

Unfortunately the site is subscription but one month's sub is cheap,  especially for those of us  on the other side of the world !

The easiest way to get a search is to select "Places" from the main menu tab and then New Zealand in the following screen - that way it cuts out the "noise" from other sources  :)

Apologies if this is old news but I couldn't find any mention of this resource in a search on this forum.

Cheers,
Bannerman
