Scotland / Robert Baxter Scotland to Nova Scotia
« on: Thursday 18 August 11 04:06 BST (UK)  »
Hello.  Looking for any help on my Baxter family.

Robert Baxter born 1752 in Scotland, died in 1814 in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada and  married Ann Frizzell on 1 Aug 1780 in Windsor Nova Scotia, Canada.  He had many children listed as Margaret, John, Hugh Oliver, Hannah Moore, Daniel, Oliver, Sarah, Thomas, Robert, Ann.  All born in Nova Scotia, Canada.  Family history is that Robert was born in Scotland and maybe in the area of Kintyre Peninsula, but have not found anything to suggest that this is true.  Also don't know of any siblings to Robert.

Doing many searches (and of course Robert is such a common name) I have come across a Robert Baxter born in Markinch, Fife, Scotland on 30 Sep 1752 to Robert Baxter and Margaret Small (they were married on 15 Dec 1749 in Markinch, Fife, Scotland.  They are listed in the IGI site with and indexing number of C11447-4.  Does anyone have any info on this Robert Baxter to suggest that he may have come to Nova Scotia before 1780?

I understand it isn't much to go on, but any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Ireland / ROGERS,
« on: Monday 15 November 10 18:10 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for any information on James Rogers who married a Nancy Unknown.  They had at least one child, James Rogers, who was supposed to have been born or lived in Donegal Ireland.  The child James was born in 1796 and moved to England and was a weaver and then moved to Nova Scotia, Canada where he married Sarah Miller.  I am assuming that the original James and Nancy would be from the Donegal region/area as well, but this is heresay.  Any help would be so much appreciated as I don't know how to get Irish census or anything else for that matter.  I know it isn't much to go on.  Looking forward to hearing from anyone.

Looking for a James Rogers born abet 1796 presumably in Donegal Ireland.  He moved to England (not sure of place) and worked as a weaver.  He then moved to Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada and married a Sarah Miller.  He died in Nova Scotia in 1868.  I have no other information on his parents or siblings and would love to know more about this ancestor.  He would be my Gr. Gr. Great Grandfather.  Does anyone have any information on any Rogers in the area???  Thanks.

Dumfriesshire / james Currie and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick
« on: Friday 18 June 10 03:57 BST (UK)  »
Looking for information on either/both James Currie and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick.  I have information that suggests that Elizabeth Kirkpatrick was born in the county of Hoddom in the parish of Dumfries possibly around 1800 (I'm sorry if I got this wrong, this information is coming 2nd hand.)  Elizabeth's surname could have been Fitzpatrick instead of Kirkpatrick.  I know that James and Elizabeth had one child named Joseph b 1827, but they probably had more children.  They moved to Prince Edward Island, Canada sometime before 1846.  Joseph married Janet (possible Jennet or Jane and her possible surname is Currie as well.)

If anyone can help with this family line, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again!

Argyllshire / Baxter's on Kintyre Peninsula
« on: Monday 22 February 10 04:04 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for surname of Baxter on Kintyre Peninsula or Isle of Kintyre.  I don't know of a town name as of yet, but stories in the family suggest that my Baxter family came from the Isle of Kintyre.  My oldest record is a Robert Baxter b-1752 place unknown.  He married a Anne Frizzell on 1 Aug 1780 in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada.  He died 1814 in Windsor, Nova Scotia.  There aren't any Baxter's in the index of the surviving census records for the 1770's for Nova Scotia, Canada.  I am thinking that the Baxter's came to NS from Scotland.  I don't know of his parents, but am hoping that someone might have information on Robert and family.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

I am looking for any information on an Alexander Cameron that lived in Chirnside and was born around 1788-1791.  He moved to Nova Scotia, Canada around 1818 and married and Elizabeth Ann Hurst when he arrived.    I don't know of his parents, but it possible that his father was also Alexander and married to a Paxton, and possibly killed in Waterloo in 1815.   Any help of this family would be appreciated.
