Lancashire / long shot with photo
« on: Friday 25 August 17 00:39 BST (UK)  »
Been looking through old family photos and often wondered who is the person on the right of my mother who died in 1953 ,just a thought if anyone could identify that person as part their family tree.
My mother was born Daisie Boulter in Liverpool in Jan 1916 her friend I think was probably also from the area and a similar age. There is a name that comes to mind which is E Fearon it is likely she is deceased as my mother would have been over 100yrs old at present and E F was about the same age.
I have looked on Lancs BMD under births and marriages  but couldn't find any entries under the Christian name  which is Ethel but that may not have been her first name
or she wasn't born in Lancs at all which makes it into even more of a needle in a haystack. My other thought it may not even be E Fearon I have a photo of her riding a horse but is taken from the rear so I can't compare photos. clwyd2

Staffordshire / Bate family penkridge
« on: Saturday 18 February 17 23:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi been doing some research on my Grandads  family one of his sisters was my great aunt Ethel.
Ethel Boulter married Frank H Bate in 1919 in Liverpool where she lived. The Bate family came from Penkridge,  Frank Hubert Bate born 1849 in Penkridge Mother named as Davenport however I can't find a marriage between Davenport and Bate who must be the Father .1901 census shows Frank Hubert Bate age 7 but doesn't show any match for possible parents,1911 shows similar and he is
17 and a clerk.I used to visit them in Penkridge in 1940s with my Parents and Grandparents I think they lived in a farm and had horses I have some photos of part of the house does any one know of a farm run by the Bate family I have tried on various census sites but not found any address of dwelling .I also remember an Eric Bate who was my mothers cousin .Would appreciate any help with my search

United States of America / miller family iowa
« on: Friday 03 February 17 23:02 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the miller family from Iowa.My mother had a friend called Thelda but I don't know her surname I believe she was my Godmother.Thelda met an American GI in Liverpool during WW2 and eventually married him but I don't know if the marriage was in UK or back in the States. My family kept in touch and when my Mother died in 1953 Thelda asked if I would like to go and live with them in Iowa.I was living with my Grandparents and Mother at that time as my Father had separated from my Mother shortly after returning from the war with Japan.
The miller family had a ranch in Iowa and wanted me to go and live there but I was only 10 years old and didn't want to leave my Grandparents .I have the name Thelda, David and Byron in an old diary the only dates I have are birthdays but not the years.
Thelda Miller 27th May---(*). Miller 8th Aug---(*) Miller 6th Sept  I think David is the Father of  (*).My Mother was born in 1916  so Thelda and David will be of a similar age give or take a few years. All my searches have hit a brick wall both for marriage in UK and Iowa and deaths in Iowa .I don' know how to find a GI's service history which may help .I have used  both David and Byron as the husband in my searches but still no luck.I know they were around up until 1955 in Iowa as they used to send me Christmas presents, this is all the info I have I hope someone may be able to help me with my search .Regards from Clwyd2 in Liverpool.

Hi  all I am trying to find any info on James Thomas Atwill petty officer in the Royal Navy during WW1
The name seems to be connected to Devon or possibly cornwall .He may be part of my family tree via my Grandad. Possibly married one of Grandads sisters. It is a long shot as our family are all from Liverpool .
