Lancashire / Wigan Music Hall
« on: Monday 11 July 11 11:37 BST (UK)  »
On the 1901 Census at 19 Darlington Street, Wigan are ERNEST and CARMAN GIBBINS.
They are both recorded as Music Hall Artists (Vocalists)
Can anyone shed any light on this pair or their Music Hall work as I think they may be my long lost relatives

How many Music Halls were there in the area and are there any records from them anywhere that may show them there in 1901 ?

Kincardineshire / Stonehaven Methodist Chapel 1847
« on: Saturday 23 January 10 11:43 GMT (UK)  »

Hi everyone
I have been sent this clipping from the Scotsman - 18 Jan 1847. It is a clip from an article in the Aberden Banner.   I think it may my long lost relative.

Can anyone tell me where the Chapel was
or
has anyone access to the Banner for 10th to 17th January 1847
 Any help or suggestions please

Ian

Scotsman 18 January 1847
Affecting Instance of Sudden Death. – At the Methodist Chapel, Stonehaven, the preacher on Sabbath last, the 10th, delivered a discourse in the forenoon, from the solemn words – “This night thy soul shall be required of thee”.  In the afternoon the members met in fellowship as usual, and Joshua Middleton, one of the number, a pious, hale old man of 80, was requested to engage in prayer.  He prayed with solemn fervour, and strong confidence in God, for some minutes, and when, as the others supposed, he was about to conclude, his voice seemed suddenly checked, as if overpowered by his feelings. Silence reigned for a few seconds, after which a member approached where the good man was kneeling, and found that life was extinct – Aberdeen Banner

Aberdeenshire / Eating House on Regent Quay
« on: Thursday 17 December 09 13:03 GMT (UK)  »

My G Grandfather Alexander Cudie Middleton (B:1864) was recorded from 1896 till his death in 1901 as being a Restaurant Keeper or Eating House Keeper. His address was 69/70 Regent Quay. I assume that is were his Eating House was.
I think 69/70 Regent Quay was between Sugarhouse Lane and Water Lane, where Cromarty House now is.
The link below is a photo from 1914 of that stretch of Regent Quay.

Can anyone tell me if there was a Eating House on this block, where it was and what it was called please

Kincardineshire / Fetteresso Middleton Family
« on: Monday 30 November 09 01:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Everyone

My Middleton family come from the Stonehaven area.
Joshua (or Joseph) born 1821 at Burn of Maxie was registered in the 1841 census as living at Brunt Hall, Fetteresso.
By 1851 he was at Snob Cottage, Snob.

I can find both Burn of Maxie and Snob Cottage on the old maps.
But can anyone throw any light on where Brunt Hall was please
