Family History Beginners Board / United States Obituary Collection
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 02:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi!  Ancestry.com has the "United States Obituary Collection" on its site.  Does anyone know where this information comes from?  I have found 2 relatives (thus far) that have the wrong death dates listed.  I'd like to get this corrected, but can not find how to contact them.

Thank you,
Denise

United States of America / FM Cooper and Rhuhama Haslett

I am new, so I apologize if this is not the correct place to post this.

I have hit a roadblock with my GGGF.  His name is Francis Marion "FM" "Frank" Cooper.  His wife is Rhuhama Haslett.  Frank was born in Ohio about 1845.  Both died and are buried in Eskridge, KS.

I found a listing that I could not access (paid site) for a Frank Cooper born 1845 (state unknown) with parents Daniel Cooper and Frances Downer.  I have no idea if this is him.

If you may have any information, please let me know.  I would be eternally grateful.  It is mind-boggling to me that one's family just falls off the face of the earth.  I am determined to figure this out.   :)  THANK YOU!

The Common Room / Adoption research
« on: Tuesday 02 February 10 22:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hello!  This is my first posting here.

I am trying to find my father's biological family.  He was adopted at appx. 2 weeks old in Brackettville, TX in 1936.  I do not know how to even begin.  My father has never had a desire to find his family, as he loved his parents tremendously, and lost them both in tragic ways.  I, however, have had a life-long desire to find them.  My father suffered a devastating stroke 7 years ago, which has fueled my desire even further.

If you have any advice/tips/etc. on how to search, I'd be much appreciative.  We know absolutely nothing about his birthfamily.  It is possible they were military, as Laughlin AFB is near Brackettville.

Thank you very much.  I look forward to using this forum.  Good luck to you and all your searches!
