England / Relative christened on same day as they were born?
« on: Thursday 06 August 15 16:27 BST (UK)  »

Good Afternoon  :)

I have been researching my Gt Gt Grandfather and have hit a bit of difficulty tracking down his birth.

His name is James Bailey and he was born in Swettenham in Cheshire.
I am convinced I have tracked down his baptism record as 06/11/1847 in Swettenham.

However, I have not been able to find his birth record.

What interested me about his baptism record was that is matched the date his daughter had recorded as his birthday in her birthday book.

Does anyone know if it was common in this era for people to be baptised on the same day as their birth, or could it be that the family used this date as perhaps they had lost his birth record?

All suggestions are very welcome.

Many Thanks

Alex

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Old photo for dating please

Dear All,

I recently came across this photo and I've been trying to work out who the photo is of, regrettably without much luck. I would be very grateful for any help with the date.

Is the little one a boy, as it is hard to tell from the face?

As well as this, on the back by the negative number there is the name Jones, from experience does this make it likely that the family who ordered the photo are the Jones’s?

I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Many thanks,

Alex.  :)

Hello,
I have a gold locket formerly belonging to my great grandmother, with pictures of her parents inside. Although lovely, I was hoping someone may be able to work some magic to put the couple together, so that they are in one photo.
Kindest,
Alex.

United States of America / West Pawlet Vermont
« on: Monday 27 September 10 19:01 BST (UK)  »
Hello Rootschat,
I have this relative who all in our family are a bit of a loss about. He was originally born in Wales and then at some stage moved to the USA. His name was Hugh J Roberts and I have a rather interesting photo of him. But what I am wondering is on the death of his nephew who had also moved to the USA Mr Hugh J Roberts was sent the info on his nephews death and was recorded in welsh press at the time as being the Senator of West Pawlet, Vermont. I can however find no evidence of this online as such I was wondering if anyone had any tips or help as to find out more. I would presume from the info I have is that he would have been senator around 1926 if at all.
Hope someone can help,
Kind Regards.
Alex.

Hello,
I have this Photograph of my Great Grandfather Joseph Gibby when he was in the Navy. I was hoping someone could bring it back to life as it is a bit tired, also if anyone would like to have a go at colouring the image that would also be absolutely marvellous. Joseph was a red headed man with blue eyes.
        Cheers,
         Alex Houghton.

Hello,
I have this brilliant Photograph of my Great Great Great Grandmother with my Great Great Grandmother and her eldest son.  I believe it dates to about 1874. It would be fabulous if anyone is able to improve it as it has a rather tired look. Any help would be gratefully received.
  Kind Regards,
     Alex

World War One / Identify Soldiers Rank and Regiment
« on: Friday 02 July 10 17:00 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
This is a picture of my Great Great Grandfather and his wife, Hugh and Susannah Jones. I was hoping someone may well be able to identify the Rank and the Regiment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I presume this is First World War but that is quite possibly inaccurate.
Kind Regards,
 Alex.
