Canada Lookup Request / William Musson and the Blizzard
« on: Friday 21 January 11 11:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone.
My G-grandfather perished in a snowstorm/ blizzard somewhere in Canada around 1857 - 59. His name was William Musson, born about 1816 England, was a member of a Temperance Movement touring that country warning of the dangers of alcohol abuse. He does not appear on the 1861 census.
Does anyone know where I could find such records about the Blizzard and of his death or even of the society he was a member of ??

New Zealand Completed Requests / Joneses in Palmerston (south) COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 27 November 10 08:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,

My Jones family came to NZ. south island around 1891, after a stopover in Melbourne. Thomas and Phoebe, and their children, Emma, Frederick, Ellen and Charles along with Thomas' father Robert Jones and his wife Emma , both native of North Wales. Thomas was a tailor, I asume he started a business somewhere around Palmerston, as they both appear on the Palmerston Electoral Roll of 1893. The family returned to Melbourne sometime in 1897, leaving Robert behind, who died and was buried at Port Chalmers New Cemetery in December 1897.
I am intrigued as to why the sudden departure, why did my family seem to desert my G-grandfather ?
Would any one have access to further E/Rolls or info/ideas about this?

Australia / Early Parkville, Melb.
« on: Wednesday 08 September 10 13:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I`m just wondering if anyone can point me to a map of early Melbourne (1860s)
that would include Parkville, in particular the area between Royal Pde. and Flemington Rd., where the Royal Childrens Hospital now stands.
My g-grandmother lived in a house on that block c. 1850s.

Cheers, David

I have a marriage cert for John ORD and Emily CONNOLLY at Scots Church, Collins St. Melbourne, dated 1 June 1867, his occupation as attendant at Yarra Bend Lunatic Asylum, hers as attendant at Stockade. - Does anyone know what Stockade was and whereabouts in Melb. it may have been. Might it have been a police compound or such. ??

I am trying my darndest to find ANYTHING photo-wise of Blakenhall, Wolverhampton, Where my Joneses lived. (and a lot of other folk also) from
