« on: Wednesday 29 March 17 16:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi am very interested in finding more information about my maternal grandfather Alfred Bertram skidmore born 1907. He was put into the orphanage at the age of 3 or 4 after his father had passed away. He went with at least another sibling possibly Lillian. Mum then remarried and took other sibling out but left my grandfather there. Not sure where to start my search. Any help would be appreciated thanks xx

Am trying to find any information about My fathers Aunty Lena who sadly passed away in 1990 aged 70.  She was married to David Hopkins and I believe she had 2 or 3 daughters.  They lived in Erdington Birmingham.  She was my Grandmothers half sister Ivy Jane Jones (nee Baker).  Her mother was Susannah Selena Baker (nee Thornton).  Have managed to trace her marriage, birth and death and possible offspring.

Clare / Jeremiah Green, Landowner in Kilbaha in the early 1900's
« on: Thursday 01 August 13 19:59 BST (UK)  »
Am looking into the family history of some close friends.  Their mother comes from County Clare she was born in 1927 and is from a big family.  Her Mother and father had a farm in Doonaha think it was named Haugh Farm (that was the families name).  Her maternal grandparents were Jeremiah Green and wife Mary?  Her parents were Margaret Green and William Haugh.  The lady I am talking about has dementia so we are trying to find more out from her history to talk to her about it.  As far as they know Jeremiah Green must have been a landowner and think that he would buy strips of land off tenants who couldn't pay their rent etc.  Would love any history of the area's in County Clare from the 1920's to end of 1940's.  Have tried the usual sites but no look.  Also a family member had been researching but came up against a brick wall.

I am also after more information about my Great Great Great Grandmother Catherine Govers Irwin who came from Dublin in the mid 1800's.  She married an Edwin Baker and settled in Birmingham.

Hi, am trying to find out if good friends of mine went back to New Zealand in the 1980s. (*)worked with me at Fort Dunlop.  He came over to England possibly 1970s.  He married an english woman by the name of Barbara and they had a son Daniel born in 1981.  The last time I saw them was in May 1981, they were saying that Marks grandmother wanted them to go and live in New Zealand.  That was the last I heard from them.  Have tried to trace them in England since drawn a blank.  Have tried on Ancestry too both England and New Zealand.  Any ideas  ???

« on: Monday 20 June 11 15:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi I am searching on behalf of some very good friends of mine.  They have relatives in Hamilton NSW.  (*)    My friends are the (*).  Up until recently they were writing to each other every couple of months.  However it has been since the floods that they have had no word from them.  Very strange as they were always in contact.  Wondered if anyone could shed any light onto the whereabouts of the family.

Australia / Cremation/Burial Records for Lois May COULSON
« on: Saturday 10 April 10 11:58 BST (UK)  »
Still struggling to find any record of death, burial or cremation for Lois May Coulson.  Last address I had for her was Beaumont New South Wales.  I know she probably died after 1982 possibly before 1989.  Found cremation record for her husband James Coulson 1992 at Shoalhaven Crematorium.  He was listed as widower.

Have tried through several newspapers.  Even emailed a letter to the Sydney Morning Herald no luck as yet.  Shoalhaven bereavement Services have been very helpful by finding James records for me.  They couldnt locate any for Lois or May as I knew her.  The person who arranged James cremation lived in Nowra, but may not still be alive now.  Lois Mays maiden name was Swain.

Have also checked a lot of the cemetries but no luck either.

Warwickshire / Tracing the Greenhall family
« on: Sunday 04 April 10 12:36 BST (UK)  »
Am trying to find out more about the Greenhall side of my family.  My 2 grt grandmothers were Emily Greenhall b 1878 d 1914 (March) in Birmingham.  Married a James Baker 24th September 1904.  Fathers name was John Greenhall (a painter by trade).  Then Elizabeth Greenhall poss b around 1873 she married an Albert Ernest Jones in Birmingham Oct/Nov/Dec quarter in 1903.  Have been told that Emily and Elizabeth may have been sisters.  Or cousins.  Cannot find John Greenhall link to either of them.  The only possible one was 1901 census when Emily was listed as Emma living with elder brother John who was widowed .  Emily was illiterate because on Wedding Certificate she just put her mark (cross).  There is also possibly a child Maud who was born to Emily but cannot find any record.  Emily and James had my nan Ivy Jane Baker b June 1911.  Emily was killed by lightening in March 1914.

Her father remarried in possibly 1921 or could have been earlier cannot find new spouses name.  They were living in Witton.  My nan, father James and step children Selina and George but cannot be sure of wife no2s name.  I knew her as Granny Baker.  Her first name could have been Suzannah or Suzanne?  Did find a possible marriage for a James Baker and ? Rowe in 1921 in Aston.
Would be grateful if anyone has any info.  Thanks

Am trying to find out more info on an Emily Skidmore (nee Taylor)  She was my grandfathers mother.  Got his fathers info, but none for Emily only that she was his mother.  I believe Alfred Betram Skidmore b 1877 and died in 1910 in Aston, Birmingham.  They lived at trafalgar terrace, cooksey rd, Aston in 1907 when my grandfather was born.  He too was Alfred Bertram Skidmore.

When his father died he was sent to Princess Alice Children's home, New Oscott in Birmingham. Along with possibly siblings?  This would have been 1910/11.  Have tried on 1911 census but have had no luck.

Wondered if anyone could help with any details.

Family History Beginners Board / Thomas Walker who married Eunice Hull in 1841
« on: Monday 22 March 10 13:51 GMT (UK)  »
Wondered if anyone can give me more information on Eunice Hull who married a Thomas Walker in 1841.  Eunice b 1819 in Castle Donington, Leicestershire.  Thomas Walker b 1815 in Allstree Derbyshire.  I know Thomas was a Cooper by profession.  Also would like to know if there is any connection with the Walkers and Haddon Hall, Derbyshire.

Have been told that Eunice had links to Haddon Hall.  However, may not have been Eunice Hull. Told she was buried at Repton Church, on looking the only gravestone I found for a Eunice was a Eunice Walton b 1761 d 1791.  Walton features in some of our ancestors names.  e.g John Walton Swain, John Walton Hull and two others to my knowledge had Walton as a first name.  So am interested to know if this Eunice Walton is connected to our family.  As a child I was taken to see a grave for Eunice but I can't remember what it said.  Eunice Hull died in 1895 in Burton on Trent.
