Australia / Elizabeth JONES
« on: Friday 18 November 11 09:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find records for Elizabeth Jones. Her father was Robert Jones of the "Scarborough" and he was second fleet and on Norfolk Island same as Elizabeth Goldsmith "Lady Juliana".

Elizabeth was born 21 Feb 1798 and Mary 1799. Both on Norfolk Is.

I know Mary married William Collins Burke Jackson but after his death she is missing except for a few hints from her husbands estate.

Elizabeth was selling the family home in Harrington St, the Rocks for her mother after Robert Jones died in 1818.

The 2 Elizabeths were each given land grants at New Norfolk Tasmania.. but again after the death of her mother in 1823.. nothing

Robert Jones was Assistant Superintendant of Police in Sydney and had a good career.

Anything would be a help :)

I have only just started looking but I have 2 Burial certificates with different Numbers for the same man  Robert Jones who was a Transported on the Scarborough arrived  1790..

He was on Norfolk Island then was an  Assistant Superintendant of Police at Sydney.

Both Documents agree he was Buried 10th August St Phillips...is there any records of Burials online?

Does anyone have any information on this man as I believe his wife and daughter both had land grants at New Norfolk Tasmania. Elizabeth Jones. I am also hoping that I find their marriage as well as if she died in NSW or Tasmania.. SHe was Elizabeth Goldsmith of the Lady Juliana arrived 1790 and sent to Norfolk Island.

Many thanks.

Canada / Barque "Amelia" from St John New Brunswick
« on: Tuesday 10 August 10 15:50 BST (UK)  »
I have a little clue that the "Amelia was a "Self-Possessed Immigrant Ship" owned by passengers on board from St John to Melbourne arriving 24th December 1852. Also another ship owned the same way was the "Australia" arriving early December 1852. She had cargo on board to sell etc and was put up for sale or charter within a week or so.

My interest is a family on board called Irvin that was actually Irving. The name Amelia became a family name for some of the females and stories tell of them sailing it to Australia and selling it.

Where there was a little smoke some of my research is starting to fit.

Anyone heard of this sort of thing before???

Antrim / James McFarlane of County Antrim
« on: Friday 09 July 10 12:46 BST (UK)  »
From his marriage certificate at the St James Cathedral Melbourne 1861 when he married Isabelle Thomson a Scot from Glasgow. St James is  Church of England.

His parents were James McFarlane and Jane Andrews and Alexander was born 1832.

I am not sure where to look and have no inward shipping list for him to Victoria.

Reading her I see that County Antrim is just not going to work so hopefully wiser heads than mine can suggest what to do..

Many thanks

« on: Saturday 03 July 10 10:50 BST (UK)  »
I found this picture of my sisters and I with our father who is now deceased.

The photo is actually taken at the Capistrano Mission, San Jaun, California taken Feb 68.

I would so greatly appreciate if anything can be done to restore the picture as it is the most precious treasure to my sisters and I.

Many thanks in advance
