Unwanted Certificates & Artefacts / Which Message Board
« on: Thursday 17 February 05 23:13 GMT (UK)  »
My mother visited Singapore a few years ago and came back with photographs of a head stone for J. O'Dea (her maiden name was O'Dea and she was struck by the coincidence of finding that particular headstone!).  Information on the headstone as follows:

Australian Imperial Forces
NX77958 Private J O'Dea
2/20 Infantry Battallion
17th March 1942   Age 29

Do you think anyone would be interested in this?  If so which message board should I use?

Cheers
Jax

Lavinia Meigh - born 10 July 1855, Far Green, Hanley in the County of Stafford.

Sent for the certificate as I thought she was my 3x grandmother.

I'd be pleased to post this to "anywhere" if it is of use to any of you.

Staffordshire completed Look up Requests / 1861 Lookup Please - Staffordshire
« on: Thursday 17 February 05 22:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi guys, would someone please do an 1861 look up for me.  I'm looking for:
William Tingle (born: c1829, Gloucs) and Camilla (or Cornelia) TINGLE (born: c 1836, Leics).  The were married in 1857 - Wolstanton, Stafford.  On the 1881 census they were living in Burslem, Stafford.  I'm really desperate for this information so I'd really appreciate some help.
Cheers

Hi, I'm quite new at this but the more research I do the more paperwork I seem to be buried in...and the more paperwork I have the harder it is to find anything!!!....I know this is quite an open question, but does anyone have any advice on how to organise my research.
I'm also interested in the genealogy software thats out there but quite frankly I haven't got a clue where to start - recommendations welcome please.

Gloucestershire / FOREST OF DEAN
« on: Tuesday 15 February 05 19:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I've recently traced one of my ancestors back to Gloucester, namely, William TINGLE born c1828, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire (info from the 1871 census).  Can anyone give me some information about this area.
Would anyone know how I would go about trying to find out exactly where he was born.   I would like to post a request for an 1841 lookup but realise it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack without this information.
Cheers

Gloucestershire / FOREST OF DEAN - WILLIAM TINGLE
« on: Tuesday 15 February 05 12:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I'm new to Roots Chat and I'm already hooked!
I am tracing my Maternal line at the moment (as it's the easiest!) and have recently traced one of my ancestors back to Gloucester, namely, William TINGLE born c1828, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.  William married Camella Greaves of Broughton, Leics, and by the time their first son, William, was born in 1858 they were living in Knutton, Staffs.  Would love to hear from anyone who recognises any of these names! or could give me some advice on genealogy in Gloucester!  Cheers Jax

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / 1861 Census Lookup Please.
« on: Sunday 13 February 05 20:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, could someone please help me with an 1861 lookup.
I'm looking for Rosina WILLIAMS (and her parents!).  Rosina was born  c1860/61 in Hanley, Staffs and appears on the 1881 census living with her grandparents - aged 20 - at 5 Gran Bdgs W Rd, Burslem, Stafford.
On the 1871 Census Rosina appears still living with her grandparents but there is also a WILLIAM WILLIAMS (age 29) - who may have been Rosina's father but still no mother.    I believe that her parents died when she was young but it would be a great help if they appeared on the 1861 census!!   Cheers, Jax
