Pembrokeshire / Abercych Forge Cych
« on: Sunday 26 February 17 17:01 GMT (UK)  »
Wonder if someone could help.  Margaret Jones, my G grandmother's birth certificate says she was born in 1849 at Forge Cych, Manordivy.  Doing some research I find that this is actually in Abercych.

Her parents lived at Aberdwylan, Dolbryn hamlet, Cenarth and most of her siblings were born there.  I have wondered why Margaret was born at Forge Cych.

Looking on the 1851 census [the one nearest to Margaret's birth ] it looks as if  Forge Cych is a collection of small houses next to each other mainly inhabited by paupers and pensioners.  Hannah's maiden name was Evans  but I cannot find any link to Evans in the list of residents.
The only other clue maybe that at Forge Cych Mill there is a David Evans as Miller.

Now Hannah was born at Cenarth Mill in 1816 as her father, John was the Miller there. I can only trace two siblings for Hannah, John b. 1821 and Esther b. 1811.
David  b. 1806 actually may be a bit old to be Hannah's brother and it looks as though he was born in Brongwyn ..... and the birth certificate does not say Forge Cych Mill just Forge Cych.

Can anyone link Hannah to David Evans at the Mill?  Or any suggestions about Forge Cych.  Would really appreciate any help.   Thank you

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / Clydey, Pembrokeshire : Marriage abt 1798
« on: Friday 24 February 17 21:01 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the marriage of David Jones to Rachel surname unknown I'm afraid.  Rachel was born in Clydey in about 1770 and their first child, Rachel, was born 1798 in Clydey.  So I am assuming that David and Rachel married in Clydey at about that time.    By the time the third child was born the family was living in Kenarth in about 1805.
David was dead by the 1841 census but he may have been alive in February 1840 as he was recorded on his son's marriage certificate.  It did not say deceased but of course he may have been.
Are there any church records available in Clydey for this time that might give me the details of David Jones and the marriage details?
Any help would be much appreciated as I am at a brick wall with this.

United States of America / Ships from US 1933
« on: Sunday 26 February 12 21:54 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help please.
We have details of Kurt Droz  [ c. 1895 ]and his wife Kate [or Katerina] Droz   [1906] leaving Los Angeles [ East San Pedro] on Dec 11 1932 on the Norwegian ship MS Talisman.
They went through the Panama Canal and onto to London arriving on Jan 16th 1933.  Then onto to Rotterdam arriving Jan 18th 1933 where they disembarked.
They may have had daughter Katherine with them too.

But I cannot find any out-going passenger lists from the US for that time and, strangely,  neither can I trace  the ship.

Any ideas, advice, suggestions would be most welcome.
Many thanks

Europe / Poland - Poznan
« on: Sunday 26 February 12 17:24 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find information on a family called Kunst who lived in Poznan around 1900

I know that  Katarzyna Kunst was born 14 August 1906.   The family address at the time was Ul.Parkowa,#8, Poznan
Her parents were Karol Otton Samuel Kunst and Elizbieta Emilia Kunst [ nee Schulz]

That is all the information I have and would love to trace more of Katarzyna's parents and the family in Poznan.
Katarzyna married in Wiesbaden in 1925 so the family must have moved there at some point before that.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated
Thank you.

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / Birth record of Thomas Phillips
« on: Friday 08 October 10 20:25 BST (UK)  »
I believe that my gt gt grandfather Thomas Phillips was born in Pembrokeshire, maybe  in the parish of Penrith or Penrydd in 1858.
I have his marriage certificate but father's name is blank so am assuming that Philips was his mothers maiden name.   At the time of marriage in 1876 he was a farm labourer in Llanfyhangel Pen Bedw.
But of course I realise that my assumption could be completely wrong!  But I have to start somewhere!
So this is just a first shot to see if any of you wonderful folks can help.
many thanks
