Lancashire / Higher Broughton Dividing Wall
« on: Sunday 18 July 10 21:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone tell me when this boundary wall was taken down please?

It was the dividing wall between Walnut Street and Bellot Street in Higher Broughton, Salford.  The Walnut Street side was known as Salford 8 and the Bellot Street side was classed as Manchester 8.

I know it must be from after 1935 because my grandmother is on it, but am not sure whether it came down in the Blitz or if the council pulled it down.

Thanks very much.

Lancashire / James Anderson b 1819
« on: Tuesday 22 June 10 17:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to find out more information about my gt gt gt grandfather, James Anderson and wondered if anyone could help me please.

This is what I know:- he was born in Ireland, about 1819.  His wife was called Mary.  He had 6 children;-Robert, Elizabeth, Mary Alice, James, Jane and George.  He moved at some point to England and was living in Manchester in 1851, lodging with an Irish Shoemaker.  I have the 1851 and 1861 census details.  I think his occupation was a brickmaker.

This is what I would like to know:-  Whereabouts in Ireland was he born.  Who were his parents and did he have any brothers or sisters.   When did he marry Mary.   Where did they live when them came to England.

Thanks,

Nicola

Lancashire / John Boardman b.1807 Salford
« on: Sunday 25 April 10 12:39 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I am trying to fill in the gaps in my information on John Boardman who was born about 1807 in Salford and was a house painter.

I am looking to find out who his parents were and confirm where and when he was born.  I also cannot find him on the 1841 and 1851 census returns and wondered where he was living then.

I have the 1861 and 1871 census returns and know he was married to Harriet Holt, (born about 1808 in Salford) and their children were, John, James, Sarah, Robert and Charles.  Their first child, John, was born about 1835.  I would be very grateful to hear if anyone has any info on John.  Thanks!

US Lookup Requests / Oklahoma death look up please George Walter Anderson
« on: Wednesday 31 March 10 14:32 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the death certificate for George Walter Anderson born in 1893, Salford, Manchester U.K.

I think he died in Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma in 1931 when he was 38 years old.

He was a famous football player in the UK who played for Manchester United Football Club from 1911-1918.  He was involved in the biggest match fixing scandal of its time - the 1915 match between Manchester United and Liverpool.  After he left Manchester United he was involved in a betting scam and was sent to prison sometime around 1918 and was released about 1919.

I think he emigrated in either 1919 or 1920 to USA, but I cannot find any records.

I would be very grateful if anyone has any information, thanks.
