 :)Hello,

If someone has access to the Wombridge Parish Records I would very much appreciate a look up for Ann HAYWARD born abt 1820.  Her father is called Thomas HAYWARD (information obtained from Ann's marriage certificate)

Ann's mother may be called Susan or Susannah but this is only speculation at the moment.  I have found on the IGI an entry for a birth for a Thomas HAYWARD in Wombridge in 1796 who could potentially by Ann's father but I have no definite information other than Ann's marriage certificate.

Many thanks in advance

Suffolk / GREEN & PRESLAND
« on: Saturday 10 September 05 07:10 BST (UK)  »
I am returning to the GREEN/PRESLAND branch of my family tree in the hope
that someone may be able to help with information to help me to progress a
little further.

I have traced back to JOHN GREEN born Hessett abt 1800 and married to JANE
PRESLAND. They married in Hessett on 27 July 1820.
"John Green of this parish, single man, and Jane Presland of this parish,
single woman, married in the Church by banns with consent on this twenty
seventh day of July 1820.  Witnesses were Sophia Green and James GROOM.
John Green died sometime between 1851 and 1861

According to the 1851 & 1861 census Jane gives her birthplace as
Colchester, Essex.  On the 1851 census for Hessett Jane gives her age as 49
years and John Green is 53 years.  John Green dies sometime between 1851 and 1861.

I am trying to trace parents for both John GREEN and Jane PRESLAND.  I have
a copy of the 1841 census which shows John Green together with Jane and
their six children. On the same page of this census it shows a Mary PRESLAND
age 65, below her on the page is Jacob PRESLAND age 30 and then John
PRESLAND age 20.Is anyone else researching the PRESLAND name in Hessett.
I am wondering if these PRESLANDS are related to my Jane PRESLAND.

Also on the same page of the 1841 census is a James GROOM, age 45.  Is it too much of a coincidence to assume that this is the same James GROOM that was witness to John GREEN and Jane Presland's marriage. The other witness to the marriage was Sophia GREEN.  It is possible that this is a sister for John Green

This particular page has of the 1841 Census also shows details of other branches of my family tree, namely COCKSEDGE and BLAND.  I know from my research that the Cocksede/Bland/Green families intermarried.

If anyone has any information on any of the above that would help me trace parents or siblings of John GREEN and Jane PRESLAND I would be very pleased to hear from you.

King regards

Ireland / How do I use information obtained from Griffiths?
« on: Wednesday 14 July 04 14:44 BST (UK)  »
 ;) ;)

Hi

Every so often I trying to trace my Irish ancestors.  I have some information obtained from Griffiths (someone else found it for me).

My problem is (being slightly dim) that I don't know how to use the information I have.  I get very confused with Townlands, Baronies etc.

Could someone elxplain simply what this information tells me and how I can progress with it further.

Thanks

Jenny

Hi :-\

Don't know Gloucestershire, but have traced some of my family back to this area.  They are from the Forest of Dean area.    Surnames are Griffiths from East Dene and MEEK.

Harriet Meek was born in Lea Bailey Hill, according to 1881 census (when she was married to James Griffiths).  on IGI I can find Harriet Meek born 1844 which is the right time but christened in Leigh.  Is Leigh the same as or anywhere near Lea Bailey Hill.

Any help appreciated, thanks,

Jenny

Hello,

I am looking for information on HENRY PHILLIPS, his wife ANN and son JOHN PHILLIPS.

The only information I have is from JOHN's birth certificate so I am not sure if it enough information.

JOHN PHILLIPS born 2 March 1849, Bloxwich. Registration District - Walsall.

I appreciate there may not be enough information for a search but thanks for taking the time to look anyway.

Ireland / MCINTYRE FAMILY
« on: Saturday 10 July 04 10:10 BST (UK)  »
 ;D

I am not having a great deal of success in researching my Irish ancestors.  From 1881 census I have discovered that my great great grandfather, MICHAEL MCINTYRE, his mother MARY and sister ANNIE were all living in Wigan.

From Michael's marriage certificate to MARY TABERNER in 1881 it details that Michael's father was OWEN MCINTYRE who was a "farmer" but was deceased.

I think the family MAY be from Donegal.  OWEN  and MARY being born abt 1820 and MICHAEL abt 1853 with ANNIE abt 1860.

I have been told that there are a small number of references to an Owen Mcintyre in Griffiths which gives Townlands etc.  My problem is I am a little bit dim when it comes to Irish research and I don't quite know what to do with this information and how to establish whether any of these are mine.

Also, is there an Irish site where I can try and find BMD's for my relatives or am I clutching at straws.

Ever hopeful

Jenny :)
