Yorkshire (North Riding) / Kirby with Brompton
« on: Monday 06 November 23 12:36 GMT (UK)  »

I have an ancestor who was connected with Mennil Hall Kirby with Brompton in the 1700’s.  I have trawled the internet until my head is swimming to find out something about it – but to no avail.  I can find nothing.  Does anyone have any information or know anything about it.  I would be grateful for any help.

I hope I am posting this on the correct board?    If not, could someone kindly direct me to the correct board please?
Does anyone know where I might find information about weavers/weaving in North Duffield in the  18th Century?  I have an ancestor who was a weaver there at that time.  There is plenty of information on the web but it tends to concentrate on the West Yorkshire area of Bradford, Halifax etc. – the industrial woollen mills.  I would be grateful for any help.  Many thanks.

In the 1871 Census my 2 x great grandfather has his occupation as Quarry worker at "Bransty works"
I have been unable to find any information about this quarry other than it might have been called "Bransty Rocks" - though I am not really sure about that name.  Does anyone have any information about this quarry please?  I would be very grateful

An ancestor's 1810 Baptism Record states the father's place of abode is “Harras Moor House.”  I’m having no luck finding out what it was or where exactly on Harras Moor it was.  Can anyone advise me please?  Grateful for any help.
Many thanks

Cumberland / Rubbing House, Seaton
« on: Saturday 14 November 15 21:15 GMT (UK)  »
In 1747 the address of an ancestor of mine is “Rubbing House” Seaton.  Does anyone know what this “Rubbing House” was?  I found this information in a marriage Record and from other records in the same Register there seems to have been more than one family living there.

I have found out that this Rubbing House was demolished in the mid 19th century but that is all I have been able to find out.  Any information/ideas would be really appreciated.
Many thanks, buona

Lancashire Lookup Requests / St Peter's Parish Registers, Oldham. EMMA TAYLOR
« on: Tuesday 26 March 13 21:12 GMT (UK)  »
Is anyone able to look up this parish register for the Christening of
Emma Taylor - Christened 15 Feb 1852 please?
Her mother’s name was Jane Taylor.
I am looking for any other information that might be in the register e.g. father’s name; occupation; any address/addresses; any other forebears mentioned – grandparents etc.

Any information at all, however seemingly trivial, might just help to break down a long standing brick wall.

Finger crossed and many thanks
