Worcestershire / second marriage
« on: Monday 26 July 04 15:41 BST (UK)  »
I am having great difficulty in getting any info about my G/fathers  second marriage. My main trouble is I am not able to travel, being disabled.
His name was Henry Johnson, born16th Jan 1868, married Clara Bailey 17th April 1897, she died sometime after 1906. Henry's second Marriage was to Kate*, Surname not known, that is where the troubles begin. The only record we have of Kate is that she died 1951/2 in Birmingham.
Henry was an Alderman on the Birmingham City Council when he died in May 1939. He was recorded in the 1901 census as a Wire Mattress Maker, which ties in with the fact that he started the Ideal Wire Mattress Co Ltd. originally in Bordesley  then moved later to Hay Mills. Another problem is that he was a Quaker, but unsure if it was a Quaker marriage.
The family address was 104 Third Avenue, Small Heath, in the Aston REG. DIST.
Go on; Make my day!! I would be most grateful.

It seems that I am not alone in havig difficulty in finding my G/Fathers 2nd marriage. No response to my earlier request.

Does the fact that he was a Quaker make things so difficult ? The marriage must be registered somewhere, problem is "where".

      Good Hunting.

Warwickshire / Henry Johnson Small Heath B'ham
« on: Monday 05 April 04 16:31 BST (UK)  »
Could any one look up Electoral roll for 104 Third Avenue, Small Heath. Birmingham. I am trying to find second marriage of my Grandfather Henry Johnson. All I know is that this second wife's name was Kate and that the marriage was between 1906 and 1939 the year my g'dad died. I was born in 1923 and so far as I am aware he was married to Kate prior to this date.
Hope this not too much of a task but I would be very pleased if I could get a result.
                          In anticipation Jim C.

The Common Room / Henry's 2nd wife
« on: Friday 26 March 04 15:11 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to trace 2nd marriage of Henry Johnson to Kate (surname unknown) . Henry was a Quaker, but I don't know if it was a Quaker wedding. He was born 16 Jan 1869 in Birmingham son of William Johnson of Garrat St. His 1st marriage was to Clara Bailey 17th April 1897, and they had 4 children the last born 1906 and as there were no children of this second marriage it must have taken place after 1906, when their youngest son was born, and before 1939 the year Henry died. He was my grandfather and I only knew Kate my Step grandmother and as I was born in 1923 presumably thr marriage was prior to this date.
I hope this is not to garbled but if someone can help I would be most grateful.
