The Common Room / Death at sea
« on: Sunday 15 September 13 22:54 BST (UK)  »
My great aunt died and was buried at sea in 1889 returning from Brisbane Australia to London aboard SS Jumna. I have found the record in BMD at Sea on Find My Past register at Glasgow. Is it possible to obtain a death certificate?

Ireland / John IRVINE
« on: Tuesday 07 September 10 20:47 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to establish the birth date for John Irvine and any other possible details. He was in the Royal Irish Constabulary and stationed in Clones as Head Constable in 1859 according to the birth certificate of his daughter Edith Olivia. By her marriage certificate he is Head Constable in Sligo. I cannot find a birth detail that could be his or a marriage registration of his marriage to Anne Jane Reid. Can anyone help?

Kirkcudbrightshire / Marriage in Ireland?
« on: Monday 31 May 10 17:17 BST (UK)  »
Anyone any ideas why Thomas Campbell, born in Girvan in 1833, and Elizabeth Logan, born in Carsphairn in 1830, could be in Ireland and marry in Co Tipperary Ireland in 1855. They returned that year to farm at Balmae, near Kirkcudbright? What a conundrum!
