Cumberland / Annatwalls Alston IWFW 1707
« on: Tuesday 13 July 10 00:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I recently visited Annatwalls Farm in Alston which I have been told has had at least 5 generations of Waltons - Although it's current residents are no longer connected to the Walton family.  There is an inscription on top of a doorway of an out building of IWFW 1707 - Does anyone know what this may stand for? Could it be a Walton?

« on: Sunday 11 July 10 23:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have A Mary Wilson linking to my family Born abt 1793 (Died 3rd March 1865) At the time of her death she lived at Annatwalls, Alston.  She married Thomas Walton on 11th May 1816 at St Augustines Church, Alston. They had a possible 9 children, Sarah, Mary, Sarah, Thomas, Elizabeth, William, Ann, Frances & John (the first 6 of these children have been christened at St Augustines Church, Alston). I am trying to locate the christening records for the last 3 children at the moment.  Can anyone confirm if Mary Wilson had siblings & who her parents may have been?
Thomas Walton 1789-1858, Mary Wilson 1793-1865 of Annatwalls & son Thomas 1825-1882 of Park are buried together at Alston Cemetary

Cumberland / Red Wing Chapel Alston, Cumberland
« on: Sunday 11 July 10 23:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am researching the Walton family in Alston and have come across a record in IGI for a baptism on 5th Sep 1835 which directly connects with my family tree but when trying to locate microfiche for this I have been unable to obtain this from Carlisle Library - the records for Red Wing Baptisms stopped in 1830 - I am going to try the LDS in Carlisle next week to see if they can help further.  Does anyone know when the Red Wing Chapel closed and where Methodist's would have gone after this closed?
