Down / John Alexander Kirk Comber County Down

On the Ros Davies site under the surname Kirk it says a male child was born 25th Sept 1871 to David Kirk and Rosanna McGreevy, no name was given for the child. I am certain the child was my Grandfather John Alexander Kirk. I first found his name on my late Mother and Fathers marriage certificate and then on the English 1911 Census and it said he was born in Nr Comber Co Down. Since then i sent away for a birth certificate from GRONI only to have no name given for the birth it just says the birth was registered on the 27th two days after he was born witnessed by Mary Laughlin. Can anyone tell me now what to do next to find the name, should i  try baptismal records. On Ros Davies site  it has David Kirk, Killinchy, Killyleagh and Comber and they used Raffery Presbyterian Church

« on: Wednesday 04 January 12 13:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hello.
I have been researching my Family Tree for a few years now and I have found my Grandfathers name in the 1911 census for England. My Grandfather was called John Alexander Kirk in the census it says he was born in Nr Comber County Down Ireland in 1872. His Father was called David Kirk born 1839 in Ireland. What I would like to know is  first is there anybody out there researching Kirks from Comber and secondly how do I trace my Family back to Scotland. My Grandfathers Family where Protestants I believe originally to have moved to Ireland in what was called the Plantation of Ireland.

Thanks Mike Kirk.

This might be a long shot but lets give it a go.
I have been researching my Family Tree and my surname is Kirk, just found out that my Grandfather John Alexander Kirk born 1872 and my Greatgrandfather David Kirk born 1839 came from Northern Ireland from County Down, my Grandfather came from Comber. As my surname is Scottish I was wondering if anyone  has any Kirks in there Family Trees that left Scotland to settle in Ireland.
Thanks

I have just found on the 1911 Census  that my Grandfather John Alexander born 1872 was born in Comber County Down.
His Father was called David Kirk born 1845. John Kirk  came to England and married my Grandmother Rachel Mary Baldam. What I am hoping to find is any information about when he was in Ireland especially the name of David Kirks wife my Great Grandmother.
Thanks
