Festival of Remembrance

This question is only sort of related to family history but I have run out of ideas for people to contact (even the Royal British Legion can’t help!)

In the 1950s I was a Scout and assisted in selling programmes at the Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall. At the time Ralph Reader was the organiser and/or compere.

I distinctly recall all the participants marching down Kensington High Street between the afternoon and evening performances to have tea and I’m sure we went to Derry and Toms. I am currently writing up our family history and would love to have confirmation that my memory is not at fault. Is there anyone out there who might remember this happening?

Gloucestershire / Sansom Family of Bristol
« on: Sunday 25 July 10 15:32 BST (UK)  »
My grandfather, Edmund Charles Sansom, was born in Bristol and I am keen to contact descendents of his family living in the Bristol area.

Born in Wellington Road in 1879 he later moved to London and became a butler in the Headmaster’s House at the world-famous Harrow School.

The son of Charles Edmund Sansom from West Buckland, Somerset and Mary Kate Channon from St Paul’s Bristol my grandfather had two brothers. Philip, killed in action in France in 1918 and William, who married Ellen Hopkins and lived near the family home in Henry Street, Totterdown.

He also had three sisters: Florence married Charlie Webster and moved to Connaught Road, Knowle; Lilly married William Leach and lived in Gloucestershire and Rosina who did not marry and died in 1961 at the Henry Street house.

I would like to hear from any as yet unknown relatives of the Sansoms or Channons who are still in the area.
