Carlow / Carlow to Dublin
« on: Tuesday 18 July 17 22:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi
On 25th May 1803 an ancestor (in a party of 12) hired a boat to journey from Carlow to Dublin. Would I be right in assuming their journey would have been down the River Barrow to the coast and then by sea to Dublin? They appear to have arrived in Dublin either that same day or the next day, because they set off from Dublin on the 27th.

Any comments on this will be most welcome.

Derbyshire / Mosborough

Hi - Does anyone know exactly where 'The Green' was at Mosborough, Derbyshire? I cannot find it on Old Maps. I suppose I am really looking for the original centre of the village.
Thanks

Hi, would anyone be kind enough to look up the 1851 census entry for the following family, please? I do not have access to 1851 at present.

John Hudson / 14 / ag lab
Catherine Hudson / 7
James Hudson / 4
William Hudson / 1

1861 census at Back Street, Nuneaton RG09/2194/79/3
Sarah Hudson / wid / 66 / Laundress / Aston, Leics
James Hudson / son / 23 / ag lab / Shenton, Leics

Cornwall / Baubridge
« on: Saturday 26 January 08 18:00 GMT (UK)  »
On behalf of a French researcher, I’m looking for the birth of a Sarah Pill, said from one source to be at Penzance, and from another at “Baubridge”.

Would anyone hazard a guess as to where Baubridge might be?
You might have to imagine the real name said with a French accent!

Regards,
Joe

Devon / Torquay address
« on: Monday 12 September 05 09:57 BST (UK)  »
In 1901 census (RG13/2060/62/21) my grandmother is a boarder at an address in Torquay. It seems to be clear enough and says 'Kents Terrace', but this is not recognised in Streetmap.  Can any kind person who knows Torquay help identify the location, please?

Lancashire / Manchester Streets
« on: Sunday 15 May 05 22:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm having trouble locating where my grandfather Foulkes' parents lived in Manchester:

In 1876 they were at Bedford Road, Moss Side or at Bedford Street, Hulme depending on which source I choose to believe, but the only Bedford Road I can find now is near Longford Park. Could this have been in Moss Side or Hulme?

In 1877 they were in (I think it says Lincoln?) Street Hulme, but now Lincoln Street is out by Rusholme.

In 1879 to 1881 they were in Cresswell Grove, Albert Park, Didsbury. This looks OK, Cresswell Grove seems to be in the right place today!

In 1885 they were at Clarence Street, Moss Side or Clarence Street Stretford, (again depending on source). Today there's a Clarence St. just south of Victoria Station, but could this be in Hulme? And was Hulme in Stretford? or the other way round?

Any help on just one of these from someone who knows Manchester would be much appreciated.
