Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 17th Century German
« on: Sunday 29 December 19 02:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Can anyone help me with this 17th Century German script? It is from a marriage record in 1694 in Kirchberg, Württemberg Germany.  I know it's supposed to be Hans Jacob Rommel and Barbara Neth (my ancestors) but I'm wondering if it says she was from Wolfsölden (or something similar).  I'm also wondering what it says is her father's name. Can anyone read it?

Thanks!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Polish Birth Record
« on: Saturday 01 June 19 06:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I’m researching my German side and I have a birth record for my ggggrandmother, Emilia Michel, born in 1840 in Pabianice, Poland.  She’s German (I think!) but I’m pretty sure the record is in polish.  I can see her father’s name Jozef Michel and a couple other names but I’m not sure who they are because I can’t read the context.  If anyone out there can read/translate this and can tell me who it’s mentioning or any locations that are mentioned, that would be fantastic.  Specifically, her mother’s name would be great!  I will post the link to the picture as well, since it’s a free site.  The picture is a little blurry.

Thanks!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Confirmation Record - German
« on: Sunday 23 September 18 03:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone,

Anyone able to read this confirmation record for my ancestor, August Seyfert? It's in German... about 1860s. Number 18 on the list.  The records are accessible to everyone so I'm posting the link. I also posted the a cropped picture of the record and of the column header for clarification.

I know: "August Seyfert"  and "Christian Seyfert" (father I guess) and that's pretty much all I can read.  Any help would be great!  Thanks!

I should say the record is from Roshischtsche, Ukraine (Germans from Russia)

Hi all,

I have a photograph in my family collection and we have no idea who it is.  I have guesses based on who she looks like but if anyone could tell me the date this was taken (based on her dress?) that would be really helpful!  I think she's related to my great great grandmother Mary Jane Ramsden (nee Lockwood) as they look similar.  Also, she was from the Hadfield area in Derbyshire which is mentioned on the photograph. I think it's either her or her sister or her mother, depending on the date of the photograph.

Are there any other details that could be taken from the photograph that might help me pin down who it is?  Any guesses on her age?  I was thinking early 20s but I'm really bad at identifying ages.  Any thoughts would be great!

I  am going to post a picture of Mary Jane Ramsden (nee Lockwood) as well.  Curious what people think about this being the same person.  I think they look similar.  Any thoughts?

Thanks!
