Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Place of residence Huddersfield area 1747

I have the baptism record of William Liversidge 1747 from All Hallows Church, Almondbury, unfortunately I can't decipher the place of abode. Any help would be great.

Hi all,

Selby High School is appealing for help from our Selby Community. As many of you know, staff and students have invested a lot of time and research working on the community Legion Poppy Project.

We have kindly been lent a sketchbook by the granddaughter of William Charles Brown who had once lived in Ebor Street in Selby and was killed in February 1916. He was one of the soldiers involved in our community Legion Poppy Project.

This image is the only page in the sketchbook that is written in shorthand so we are desperate to try and decipher its meaning. So far we have worked out that it is a message involving landmarks and possible instructions of some kind, but we have yet to uncover the entire meaning.

Hi there, can any members of this board help decipher the will of Henrietta Whiston.
I can make out bits of the will and some of the beneficiaries, the problem is the family connections to Henrietta don't correspond with my information although the names are correct. Posting the will on the forum is not possible as it is too large.

I would be most grateful if any members are willing to have the file emailed to them for deciphering.

Hi all,

I'm looking for information on the Rew family of Coventry.

Benjamin Rew: born? died? married Sarah Skears (born 1729 died 1804) 06/11/1760 St michael, Coventry.
They had at least 5 children:
Henrietta (1761 - 1840) married William Whiston (1729 - 1818) did they have any children?

Skears (1763 - 1828) married Jenny Bradnick, Skears was Lord Mayor of Coventry 1815/1816 he was Knighted in 1815 and built Coventry's Empire Theatre: did they have any children?

Benjamin (1765 - 1788) (my 5x great grandfather)

Sally (1766) did she marry?
Sarah (1768) did she marry?

Any info is much appreciated

They married in 1858 (Dec quarter) at St Peter, Prestbury.

They married sometime between 1871 and 1881 and had 7 children 6 of which can be found in the census returns of 1881 and 1891

Somerset Lookup Requests / Backhouse family baptisms

Hi there,

My great great grandparents John and Emma Backhouse (Nee Holder) both born in Wakefield, Yorkshire traveled quite a bit and lived in Leeds, Dublin, Aberdeen and Frome, Somerset.
After husband John passed away in 1873 Emma and their children moved back to Leeds.

I am looking for baptism records of the children born in Frome:

Kate Backhouse - 1867
Ada Louisa Backhouse - 1868
Alice Backhouse - 1870
John Henry Holder Backhouse - 1871

The census of 1871 has the family living at Philly Vale, Frome.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I'm looking for Samuel Sampson Harral born 19/12/1800 sheepscar, Leeds to parents Benjamin and Mary (nee Harrison) died 1865 Liverpool.
Samuel married Elizabeth Witton in 1819 Leeds, St Peter (6 children) and Alice Hurst (nee Barton) Walton on the hill, Lancashire 1851 (1 child)

I have as yet been unable to locate Samuel in any census
I have birth and death for all children apart from Jemima Harrison Harral, only the baptism record. A marriage or death would be great.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / James Harwood

Hi all,

my great great grandfather James Harwood was born in Pecket Well/Wadsworth c1820.
He married Martha Wilson 10/11/1845 at St. Peter, Leeds.
On the certificate his father is named as Joseph Harwood and both James and Joseph are delvers.

I have found James living with his in-laws on the 1851 census and with Martha and their children in subsequent census returns until his death in 1897.

I am trying to find without any luck to find his parents and any siblings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
