Leicestershire Lookup Requests / ALLEN - Benjamin and Hannah of Hinckley

Hi,

Is there anyone able to look at the Hinckley/Shenton/general Leics records for me and see if they can find the following family?

Benjamin ALLEN born 1780/81 in Shenton
Hannah ALLEN born 1780/81 in Leicestershire

The above couple living in Coventry Street, Hinckley in the 1841 census. I'm trying to find out when/where they were married and Hannah's maiden name.

Also I have only found one child for them which is a daughter:-
Elizabeth ALLEN born c1822 in Hinckley
I am trying to find out if they had any more children.

Any other information that anyone finds would be great too.

Hi,

Does anyone know if the parish registers for Hinckley St Mary's are on-line anywhere?
I'm looking for death/burial details of a Benjamin Allen - born 1780 in Shenton, died Jan quarter 1863 in Hinckley.
1861 census he was living in Marquis of Granby Yard, Regent Street, Hinckley.

England / 19th century Actor

Hi, hoping someone can help me.
Research has led me to the Banns of Eleanor Jane Sutton (my gran's sister) and Alfred Spencer Carter - 25/12/1907 - Pancras, London.
Alfred's father is down as "Henry Carter dec'd - Actor". Anyone have any ideas where I can find out more about this Actor in my tree?

Leicestershire / Arnold of Orton on the Hill

Hi,
Hope someone can help me with this before I go completely crazy

My gt-gt-gt-grandparents are Thomas and Ann Arnold from Orton on the Hill.
I can't find Ann's maiden name, or a date when they got married.

Details I've got so far...

1851 Census
Thomas Arnold - single - born 1833 at Orton, Leics - living with parents at Glaziers Yard, Orton on the Hill

1861 Census
Address: Lodge, Caldecote
Thomas Arnold - married - born 1831 at Orton, Leics
Anne Arnold - married - born 1819 at Lichfield, Staffs
Mary J Arnold - daughter - born 1856 at Caldecote, Warks

1851 Census
Ann Sandilands - single - born 1818 at Lichfield, Staffs - servant (cook) at Orton Hall, Orton on the Hill, Leics.

So I've put 2 and 2 together and presumed this could be the Ann that Thomas married, but I can't find any details of a marriage.....

Warwickshire / Mears of Hartshill

Hello,

Can anyone help me with finding more details of Richard Mears (my gt-grandfather) and William Mears (his father).

I've got the following information:-

Richard Mears...
Census records show born c1856 in Harley Warwickshire.
Gravestone shows born in 1860.
Marriage certificate shows born in 1852/1853.

Married Sarah Elizabeth Thompson on 20/08/1882 at Hartshill - age 29 - Miner - address Hartshill - father's name William Mears a labourer.
Surname spelt on the marriage cert as both Meer and Mear.

Can't find Richard on any census before 1891.
Can't find William on any census.

Hi,

I am trying to trace more details of Richard Mears born c1856, died 1915.
Also trying to find details of his parents - marriage certificate shows father as William Mears.

Cannot find him in the 1861 and 1871 census at all.

Details I do have...
1881 census - Barracks Yard, Hartshill - Coal Miner
1891 census - Snow Hill, Hartshill - Coal Miner
1901 census - Hartshill Hill, Hartshill - Miner
1911 census - School Hill, Chapel End - Coal Miner Hewer
Marriage - 20/08/1882 - Hartshill Church - wife Sarah Elizabeth Thompson

I would really appreciate any details at all.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Sutton family in Hinckley

Hi,

I am trying to trace the parents of John Sutton born c.1822 in Hinckley and also John's marriage details.

1841 census shows him aged 15 (rounded down) living in Market Place, Hinckley with his wife Elizabeth (aged 15) and son Thomas (aged 1).

If anyone has access to Parish Records, I would really appreciate any details at all.
